"Cathy's Orchid - That Night, Next Morning and Next Afternoon" is one book from a continuing collection by David E. Stone entitled "The Photographic Series". Over the course of one evening, the next morning & afternoon, David E. Stone photographed his wife's orchid plant in their kitchen and resulting images are distinctly different due to the changing light of each part of the day. The works in this series are all unique photographs taken in rapid succession of the same image, so the resulting images are possibly different from each other due to minor shifts in composition or focus. Due to the focus on uniqueness, The Photographic Series books are not intended to replicate or catalog the series (as they rarely include all of the proofs) and since they are not the original images, the artist considers them to be curated surveys of images from the series and as such, are recontextualized by the pairings for the purposes of being a book.
