CHARLIE'S CHRISTMAS CONUNDRUM follows a young boy called Charlie whose favourite time of the year is Christmas, but when his family's presents are stolen, Charlie is needed to help find them and track down the Present Culprit, and thus embarks on a magical adventure with Santa-- with snowball fights, enlarged turkeys, smuggled candies, and Granny's knitted jumpers-- and more -- all added into the mix
Max and Charlie are seven-year-old twins who love when their papa comes for a visit. Papa always has amazing stories to tell from his childhood that Max and Charlie sometimes try themselves, which usually get them in some type of trouble. As they journey in an adventure to go fishing at a nearby pond, lots of fun, excitement, and adventure happen that first day of summer.
When Charlie finds himself locked out of the house, he decides to go on a real adventure. He explores the neighborhood and makes a new friend. When he is found, Katie takes him to the vet because he hurt his paw. But all Charlie can think about is sneaking out again for another adventure.
Charlie is quiet and shy. She struggles to make new friends and is very self-conscious, more comfortable reading or talking to her Grandma than children her own age. She dreams of having a pony and riding in horse shows, dreams that seem completely impossible. She is saving her allowance so she can one day buy a saddle and bridle if she can only somehow have a pony. Charlie lives in a big city with her Grandmother, her mother Rose and Grandma's dog, Old Blue. Her Grandmother has helped her create a herd of horses made of cutouts from magazines pasted onto cardboard.Grandma becomes very ill and the family has to sell the house in order to pay for her care. Charlie's life takes a very different course as they move to Grandma's old dilapidated farmhouse in the country in order to keep Grandma's dog, Old Blue. Charlie has many challenges living in the country and needs to learn to be resilient and strong, both when she falls off a pony and when she meets new people. There are new friends and the opportunity to learn to ride and realize her dreams.
When Charlie Carson's childhood dream of becoming an Olympic runner bites the dust, he turns all his attention to his other great talent - riding. As a hardworking farm boy with a passion for horses he discovers that he has all the skills he needs to serve on the front line as a despatch rider, just in time for the outbreak of World War One. Having lied about his age to enlist, Charlie soon finds that in the desperate strife of the trenches of the Somme, he needs all his skill and bravery, not only to survive but to play a vital part in his country's victory.
