Birds have long held a unique dual role as a model group for scientists and as the focus of birders' passionate quests. Despite centuries of observation, each year brings the discovery and description of several entirely new avian species and hundreds of other taxonomic "splits" or "lumps" based on DNA data. In this arena of continual and increasing taxonomic change, The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World is a compendium of the more than 9,800 species of birds recognized by the scientific and birding communities. This completely revised sixth edition incorporates hundreds of updates since the last edition. In taxonomic sequence, it provides the scientific and English name of each species and a description of the worldwide range of each species and subspecies. The most established resource on the taxonomy and biogeography of birds for the world birding community, The Clements Checklist of Birds of the World is the official world checklist of the American Birding Association (ABA) and is used as the authoritative reference in the birding competitions and listing activities of this preeminent North American organization for serious birders. • Comprehensive indexes with all taxa listed by English and scientific names • Tables and maps showing the world distribution of total bird species and endemics by geographic area, which will be of special interest to conservationists • Space to record the location and date of individual sightings, providing the user with a personalized ornithological journal

In their first book, Clements Design showcases eight outstanding residences that embody the Clements style: understated elegance, sensuous austerity, Zen-like simplicity, easy glamour, and grand intimacy. Clements creates rarefied environments that are ultra-luxurious but never pretentious. Instead, their pared-down rooms are remarkably cosy and relaxed due to the blend of natural materials, muted colours, and matte surfaces and textures, especially from wood, stone, and nubby textiles perfect for the indoor-outdoor lifestyle of their clients. A Clements home is the perfect backdrop for jaw-dropping art collections that may include Picasso, Morandi, Warhol, and Twombly, and for entertaining in spacious, expansive rooms populated by Rick Owens daybeds, Prouve chairs, Giacometti light fixtures, Asian sculptures, and Persian rugs in pale shades, all blended with exceptional antiques carefully placed about the spaces. Serenity reigns over all, filling the viewer with a peaceful calm that is priceless. Personal accounts of working with Clements Design and living in their interiors from, among others, Ellen DeGeneres and Adam Levine, complement the glorious photography. Eight Houses: Clements Design offers a simple life set in an environment of exceeding high style and taste.
No Controversy: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Sandra Clements
Celebrating the posthumous legacy of Sandra Clements is no easy task, as she was a notable champion of saving souls and challenging the notion that women should be subservient to men in ministry. Along with her husband of 50 years and the book's author, Dr. Kirby Clements Sr, the couple delighted in sharing the Gospel in a way that remains unforgettable to those they encountered in ministry and life. A nonconformist, Sandra had a passion for the justice, dignity and liberty of women. While the church leadership taught that men should rule over women, Sandra and her husband offered the notion of "co-laborship." No matter where their ministry travels took them, including Australia, Korea, Great Britain or South Africa, the one thing people will come to understand in this book is there was no controversy.

In his work, Samuel D. Hunter has a singular gift for exploring the decline of small-town America with an empathetic yet incisive eye. His plays take place in corners of the country that are receding from the forefront of contemporary American life, focusing on those who get left behind, isolated and disillusioned with the false promise of the American dream. This new collection contains three striking, deeply-felt plays, all set in Hunter's home state of Idaho. In Greater Clements, the longtime residents of a dying Idaho mining town have voted to unincorporate in order to retaliate against the wealthy out-of-staters who are buying up property. In doing so, they also speed the town's decline, forcing them to reckon with their desire to hold onto their history while struggling to find a path forward. In Lewiston, an aging descendant of Meriwether Lewis sells off her family's land as she becomes increasingly convinced that her family's past is a curse. But when an unexpected visitor enters the picture, she is left to consider whether any good remains in the world. In Clarkston, a young descendant of William Clark has made the journey out west from his home in Connecticut, anxious to find meaning in his own history. Faced with the reality of the diminished towns that used to make up America's shining frontier, his faith in his future and the future of the country itself begins to falter.

Albert Hastings Markham (1841–1918) was the cousin of the subject of this biography, published in 1917, and greatly admired his older relative, who had acted as his mentor. Clements R. Markham (1830–1916) is remembered as a prolific writer on historical geography, many of whose works are reissued in the Cambridge Library Collection. As a boy, he showed great enthusiasm for both history and exploration, and after a chance encounter with an admiral, joined the navy as a cadet. After eight years, he determined to leave the service and pursue a career as an explorer and writer. His first expedition was to Peru, but his main interest was in the Arctic. As an active member of both the Royal Geographical Society and the Hakluyt Society, he both published accounts of early voyages and urged further exploration in the polar regions, including the 1901–4 Discovery expedition under Robert Scott.
