Dieses Manuskript stellt die theoretische Untersuchung neuer organischer Kandidatenmaterialien auf der Basis von Thiophen und Oxathiazol f r Anwendungen im Bereich organischer Solarzellen (BHJ-Typ) oder farbstoffsensibilisierter Solarzellen (DSSC-Typ) dar. Wir waren zun chst an der strukturellen und elektronischen Untersuchung dieser organischen Materialien mit verschiedenen Methoden der Quantenchemie interessiert. Zu diesem Zweck wurden Modulationen der elektronischen und optischen Eigenschaften neuer Strukturen durch chemische Modifikation der konjugierten Kette vorgenommen, entweder durch Substitutionen oder durch Modifikation der Art des Donors (D), des Akzeptors (A) und/oder der L nge des π-Konjugatsystems. Die Neuheit dieser Arbeit liegt in der Tatsache, dass diese Schl sselparameter, die die optoelektronischen und photovoltaischen Eigenschaften steuern, es erm glicht haben, neue organische Materialien mit diversifizierten Strukturen f r photovoltaische Anwendungen vorzuschlagen.

This manuscript represents the theoretical study of new organic candidate materials based on thiophene and oxathiazole for applications in the field of organic solar cells (BHJ type) or dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC type). We were first interested in the structural and electronic study of these organic materials using different methods of quantum chemistry. For this purpose, modulations of the electronic and optical properties of new structures were carried out by chemical modification of the conjugated chain either by substitutions or by modifying the nature of the donor (D), the acceptor (A) and/or the length of the π-conjugate system. The novelty of this work lies in the fact that these key parameters, which control optoelectronic and photovoltaic properties, have made it possible to propose new organic materials with diversified structures for photovoltaic applications.

Ci siamo interessati per primi allo studio strutturale ed elettronico di questi materiali organici utilizzando diversi metodi di chimica quantistica. A questo scopo, le modulazioni delle propriet elettroniche e ottiche delle nuove strutture sono state effettuate modificando chimicamente la catena coniugata o con sostituzioni o modificando la natura del donatore (D), dell'accettore (A) e/o la lunghezza del sistema π-coniugato. La novit di questo lavoro sta nel fatto che questi parametri chiave che controllano le propriet optoelettroniche e fotovoltaiche hanno permesso di proporre nuovi materiali organici con strutture diversificate per applicazioni fotovoltaiche.

Rękopis ten stanowi teoretyczne studium nowych organicznych material w kandydujących na bazie tiofenu i oksatiazolu do zastosowań w dziedzinie organicznych ogniw slonecznych (typu BHJ) lub ogniw slonecznych barwionych (typu DSSC). Jako pierwsi zainteresowaliśmy się strukturalnym i elektronicznym badaniem tych organicznych material w z wykorzystaniem r żnych metod chemii kwantowej. W tym celu przeprowadzono modulację wlaściwości elektronicznych i optycznych nowych struktur poprzez chemiczną modyfikację sprzężonego lańcucha albo przez podstawienie, albo przez modyfikację charakteru dawcy (D), akceptora (A) i/lub dlugości ukladu π-koniugatu. Nowośc tej pracy polega na tym, że te kluczowe parametry, kt re kontrolują wlaściwości optoelektroniczne i fotowoltaiczne, umożliwily zaproponowanie nowych material w organicznych o zr żnicowanej strukturze do zastosowań fotowoltaicznych.

Dit manuscript vertegenwoordigt de theoretische studie van nieuwe organische kandidaat-materialen op basis van thiofeen en oxathiazool voor toepassingen op het gebied van organische zonnecellen (BHJ-type) of kleurstof-gevoelige zonnecellen (DSSC-type). We waren eerst ge nteresseerd in de structurele en elektronische studie van deze organische materialen met behulp van verschillende methoden van de kwantumchemie. Written during a period of tumult and gestation in India's history, the essays in this book provide an intellectual's serious commentary on nascent nationhood. What makes this collection interesting is not just its historical value, but also its very evident contemporary relevance. Rare is the mind that can look critically at the present and read available signs to organize and project a picture of the future. Rarer still is the ability to pinpoint the exact issues that will define the grounds of national debate over the next half century. Written during the 1930s and 40s, these essays view problems of communal division, economic disparity, social injustice, neocolonialism, and disunity in the Left with both an intellectual and a human eye. Mukerji sets forth a new kind of humanism, reflecting an understanding of troubled times and indicating ways of possible resolution. Dhurjati Prasad Mukerji (1894-1961) was a major social scientist. He was professor of economics and sociology at Lucknow University from 1949 to 1954 (having started teaching there in 1922), and then professor of economics at Aligarh Muslim University from 1954 to 1959. A man of great erudition, his interests were so wide-ranging that he might have said, with Bacon, 'I have taken all knowledge to be my province.' Apart from being a social scientist, Mukerji was a novelist, essayist, and critic of note in his mother tongue, Bengali. He was a connoisseur of the arts, especially of music, on which he wrote several books, one co-authored with Tagore. His other publications include Personality and the Social Sciences, Basic Concepts in Sociology, Modern Indian Culture, and Diversities.
Developmental Modernity in Kerala – Narayana Guru, S.N.D.P Yogam and Social Reform
This study of the Sree Narayana Dharma Paripalana Yogam (SNDP Yogam), one of the earliest social reform movements in Kerala, investigates the relationship of social reform, religion, and caste. The Yogam drew inspiration from the ideas of Narayana Guru, which suited the aspirations of the upwardly mobile Ezhava middle class, who were the main benefactors of the movement. In both religious and social matters, the Guru was a traditionalist who strove to create a modern outlook among the masses. He conceived of the temple as a social space where everybody could meet and exchange ideas. While pursuing his spiritual mission, he advocated education, industrialization, and abolition of caste as necessary prerequisites for social regeneration. This work demonstrates that the SNDP was an organization of an emerging Ezhava middle class, which worked as both its strength and weakness. It focused on such issues as education, employment in government service, industrialization, abolition of cyclical rituals and caste, anti-alcoholism and the demand for a new law of inheritance. However, some disjunction between principles and practice led to the decline of the SNDP movement. Ironically, since the movement was largely focused on the interests of the privileged section of the Ezhava community, it achieved Ezhava solidarity only around caste. This study is a significant example of how a social reform movement turned into a caste solidarity movement.

At the end of December 1939, Dickinson submitted the enclosed despatch to the Under Secretary of State at the War Office, John Lyttelton, his first since his appointment as General Officer Commanding the Forces in East Africa in August. He details his thorough preparations and the situation in East Africa in the four-month-old war. The original copy of the Despatch can be found at The National Archives, London, WO 276/378. This publication includes an introduction by Gerry van Tonder explaining how the East Africa Force came to be.
