The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars. The Age of Enlightenment profoundly enriched religious and philosophical understanding and continues to influence present-day thinking. The Age of Reason saw conflict between Protestantism and Catholicism transformed into one between faith and logic -- a debate that continues in the twenty-first century.++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Revered interior designer David Kleinberg invites readers inside a selection of projects representing the height of sophistication, luxury, and refinement For over 35 years, David Kleinberg, whom Architectural Digest calls a designer of ‘singular rooms [that] adhere to the traditional values of elegance, beauty, practicality, [and] comfort,’ has created a body of work that is wide-ranging in style yet always modern in sensibility. Kleinberg is revered for creating spaces that not only epitomize sophistication and luxury, but that also function effortlessly for his clients. In his newest monograph, Kleinberg shares eleven recent residential projects, some of which have never been photographed until now, in glamorous locales across the United States – in Manhattan, the Hamptons, Aspen, and Palm Beach – as well as on London’s Eaton Square. The book opens with Thom Brown and Andrew Bolton’s townhouse, which was immaculately restored and filled with exquisite furnishings and art from varying periods and closes with an intimate tour of Kleinberg’s own private garden in East Hampton. Featuring a foreword by Thom Brown and Andrew Bolton, and written with Architectural Digest’s West Coast editor, Mayer Rus, the text offers readers insights into the process of the celebrated interior designer. Wrapped in grey linen and featuring a tipped-in detail shot that shows Kleinberg’s signature mix of contemporary art with period details, the book’s luxe package reflects the elegant, upscale interiors within.

This is the story of a general practitioner and his patients. The scene is Victoria in the mid-twentieth century. Many of the changes which revolutionized-medicine, antibiotics, immunization and blood transfusions-were yet to be made. Conditions were hard, transportation primitive and hospital facilities scarce. The innovating doctor met a public that was often cautious and suspicious, if not actively hostile. In these circumstances Dr Browne struggled for better health care in three country areas. He built his own hospital at Cobden. He campaigned for the immunization of children against diphtheria. Under shocking conditions he carried out one of the earliest blood tranfusions in Victoria. For fifty-three years he worked with imagination, compassion and dedication to improve the health of his patients. At a time when general practice was threatened by the rush to specialization. Dr Browne's memoirs are not simply fascinating; they are a warning of the danger of our losing the personal relationship and commitment which has characterized general practice in the past.

Ten years later, MLB.com writer Ian Browne caught up with many of the men from that never-say-die squad and wove their memories of the season, the playoffs, and their subsequent lives with his own journalism to create a book that is both poignant and hugely entertaining. Woven around the 2004 memories and insights of Derek Lowe, Keith Foulke, Dave Roberts, Gabe Kapler, Pedro Martinez, Johnny Damon, Mark Bellhorn, Tim Wakefield, Terry Francona, Theo Epstein, and others.A marvelous gift and profoundly satisfying read for Red Sox fans.
