Chase Robinson's life is under siege, his condition intolerable. His future, the carefully crafted Plan of his life, is slowly disintegrating. He must either impotently observe it decay and crumble or defy the blunt wishes of She-Who-Gave-Him-Life."Stay out of that man's way," his mother simply said. "He's dangerous."Gary Twolan, the hairball that walks like a man, had briefly dated Chase's mom. Now, Kelly won't let Gary touch her. It's all the more curious, then, that he's moved into the spare room of the row house that used to be just for Chase, his mom and Loki the mutt. "It's temporary," she says. And nothing more. Gary doesn't pay rent, doesn't have a job. His massively intrusive self is oppressively present, his leering smile at the ready, his grating voice never far away. The very him of him drains the life from the row house. The safe place Chase needs to launch his career, to conceive and illustrate ideas, seems forever gone, leaving him with nothing but a numbing sense of despair. When Gary's efforts to impose his greasy self on Kelly become aggressively, threateningly insistent, Chase transforms his misery into an icy rage, then consumes it as fuel for a creative solution to his Gary problem. He'll have to keep his project a secret from his mother. She can never know how he harries, provokes, and pranks Gary. It must be a perfect crime, to be scripted and executed with precision. It's not supposed to be lethal. And it's really not supposed to bring out the killer in his mother. But even the best plans can run into a snag or two.

When Velda's beloved axe is taken hostage by a troublesome (and extremely stinky) troll, Velda and her misfit crew discover there's only one way to defeat him: a special potion made of unicorn horn. Except, unicorns are extinct, aren't they...? Legend says that a herd of the mindreading, magical and frankly fabulous-smelling creatures may still exist in remote Pictland. But Velda's not the only one looking for them, and this enemy wants more than just their horns. Can Velda and her chaotic crew save both her axe and the unicorns, before it's too late? Join Velda as she sets sail on a wild voyage of daring, discovery and er, unicorn doo-doo, all while proving she's the awesomest Viking around.
Psychic Crime Fighters: Volume 5: Voodoo Chaser
Ex-police officer, Darrel Winston, and reserve police officer, Harry Nelson, have psychic abilities that lead them to crimes that are about to be committed. They never know when a crime is going to strike and always need to react quickly. They meet and mentor a young woman whose own psychic ability scares her. She has the ability to heal, but has limitations that force her to be unable to heal everyone. Nelson and Winston have experienced this with their own abilities and know what it's like to not help everyone, to having no say in the cases they want to work. Darrel aggravates a wannabe drug cartel whose main weapon is a man with his own psychic ability, hypnotism. When he uses his ability against Darrel, a struggle ensues that transcends any physical ramifications. Darrel becomes a fugitive from the law as he faces the cartel, and Mr. Voodoo.About the AuthorDavid Graham is a former police officer. He left the force after 18 years, spread between three different departments. The last ten years were spent as a reserve officer as he changed to a 9-5 job selling parts for a global company and working as a part-time police officer. He and his wife, Ann, raised four boys in Northern California. Two of those sons entered the military and experienced war in foreign countries. Graham is now semi-retired and writes novels loosely based on his days as an officer. He mixes his experiences with the concept of psychic insights aiding in the crime-fighting effort.

A series of photographic diptychs that investigate the behavior of images and offer an account of American precarity. Ambulance Chasers offers a series of photographic diptychs by the artist Abraham Adams: on the left, the faces of personal injury lawyers photographed from roadside billboards; on the right, the landscapes they survey. The gesture is a double rotation: each photograph is imagined as the spectator of the other, and in each pairing, the exorbitant promises of the animated lawyers are deflated by their juxtaposition with an often featureless roadside landscape. The ambulance chasers smile, grin, grimace, scowl; their hair is neatly coiffed, slicked back, unnaturally dark. They gaze at country roads, busy highways, empty intersections, blue skies, building sites, and parking lots. They offer assistance--at a price. Adams's conceptual performance and art historian David Joselit's text tell a story of American precarity. Joselit's text unrolls alongside the photographs like a long, broken caption. Adams and Joselit conceived their collaboration as an investigation of the behavior and poetics of images--both in the world as billboards and in the book as reproductions--in a visual and textual language quite different from standard theoretical texts. In a long interview, they explore the project's aesthetic and historical concerns, focusing on its hybridization of typologies central to post-World War II photography--the conceptual catalogs best exemplified by the work of Bernd and Hilla Becher and their students, and the "anti-heroic" American landscape, as charted by artists ranging from Ed Ruscha to Lewis Baltz and Robert Adams.
