The Mets have had one of the most roller-coaster histories of any major league franchise. From loveable losers to miracle champions; the frustrating 1970s followed by the glorious 1980s; surprise challengers to infuriating underachievers; phenomenal prospects to horrendous free agents. The one thing you can always count on with the Mets is-they are never boring But with the franchise about to turn 60, it's hard for even the most diehard of Mets fans to keep track of it all. That's where Fabulous to Futile in Flushing, by New York journalist David Russell, comes in. Part reference, part narrative, part tip sheet, Fabulous to Futile in Flushing condenses each of the Amazins' 58 seasons into 5 or 6 pages of all the essentials: off-season deals and planning; a month-by-month recap; the big wins, big losses, and big moments; player stats, hot streaks, and cold streaks; pennant races and postseason recaps, though not that many of those The text is also full of numerous great quotes from players, management, and media.More than anything, the annual recaps are full of fun, because with the Mets, well, how else could it be? The story of each season also features entertaining sidebars that make it great to just flip to any time in their history for a good laugh, a frustrated shake of the head, or to declare, "Wow, oh yeah, I forgot about that." There are entries on each year's Opening Day lineup, the Top 5 Moments, team MFaP and MFuP (most fabulous and most futile player), Final Resting Ground (for the many who hung 'em with the Mets), and He Was a Met? Also included are 7 challenging trivia quizzes (one for each decade) that will send you on a fun journey to the deep recesses of your Mets memories. So come on and meet the Mets. Step right up and greet the Mets. You're guaranteed to have the time of your life even just reading about the fabulous and futile Mets.
Starting Point: What Every Christian Needs to Know
Committing your life to Christ isn't the finish line. It's really the starting point to a lifelong adventure with Jesus. But all too often, many begin the race heading in the wrong direction. In Starting Point, David Russell offers secrets to starting and finishing well, answering questions like: How does Christianity differ from all the other religions? How can you know that God is actively involved in your life? Why is the recognition of Jesus as King (not merely the Messiah) the gateway to a full understanding of the Bible? What instructions in Scripture should be taken literally and what instructions were only intended for that time? ...and more. Utilizing symbolism and real world examples, the author ensures every believer begins their spiritual journey at the right starting point
Introduction to Embedded Systems

Introduction to Embedded Systems

Many electrical and computer engineering projects involve some kind of embedded system in which a microcontroller sits at the center as the primary source of control. The recently-developed Arduino development platform includes an inexpensive hardware development board hosting an eight-bit ATMEL ATmega-family processor and a Java-based software-development environment. These features allow an embedded systems beginner the ability to focus their attention on learning how to write embedded software instead of wasting time overcoming the engineering CAD tools learning curve. The goal of this text is to introduce fundamental methods for creating embedded software in general, with a focus on ANSI C. The Arduino development platform provides a great means for accomplishing this task. As such, this work presents embedded software development using 100% ANSI C for the Arduino's ATmega328P processor. We deviate from using the Arduino-specific Wiring libraries in an attempt to provide the most general embedded methods. In this way, the reader will acquire essential knowledge necessary for work on future projects involving other processors. Particular attention is paid to the notorious issue of using C pointers in order to gain direct access to microprocessor registers, which ultimately allow control over all peripheral interfacing. Table of Contents: Introduction / ANSI C / Introduction to Arduino / Embedded Debugging / ATmega328P Architecture / General-Purpose Input/Output / Timer Ports / Analog Input Ports / Interrupt Processing / Serial Communications / Assembly Language / Non-volatile Memory

Being Deified examines the importance of deification to Christian theology and the place of human creativity in deification. Deification is an explanatory force for the major categories of Christian theology: creation, fall, incarnation, theological anthropology, as well as the sacraments. Deification explains, in part, the why of creation and the what of humanity: God created in order to deify, humanity is treated to be deified; the what of the Fall: the desire for divinity outside of God's gifts; one of the purposes for the Incarnation: to deify; and what end the sacraments aid: deification. Essential to deification is human creativity for humans are created in the image of God, the Creator. In order to explore this dimension of deification, this essay focuses on works of poetry and fantasy, in many ways the pinnacle of human creativity since both genres cause the making strange of things familiar (language and creation itself) in part to make them better known, particularly as creations of the Creator.

The Green Man is a collection of poetry that looks to the world around us and asks what lies behind the things we can see, smell, taste, touch, and hear. Poetry can help us see through what Coleridge called the ""film of familiarity."" These poems attempt to help the reader pierce that veil and see the world around them in a new light.

In the church year, in prayer, in liturgy we find a comingling of time and eternity. Without leaving our experience of time, we somehow, mystically, enter into God's eternity. And God, without leaving his eternity, has entered into our time. The poems in Liturgical Entanglements seek to engage with these strange realities. Starting with Advent, the sonnets in this collection look to both the human and the divine, everyday occurrences, and the spiritual realities that uphold all of reality. Read these poems as prayers and let them help you see the world around you in a new way.

Dante's Divine Comedy has long enchanted its readers with its gruesome depictions of sordid sin, the lengths we go to find cleansing, and the hope of eternal life. In this book, Mosley seeks to respond to Dante's great poem with poetry of his own. For each of the one hundred cantos, Mosley has provided a ten-line poem written in terza rima, the rhyme scheme of Dante's epic. These poems are intended both to stand on their own and serve as a reflection on the Divine Comedy. Readers unfamiliar with the source text will be inspired to pick it up. Longtime readers of Dante's journey through the afterlife will find familiar themes presented in a new way.
