"This book takes you through the steps and thought processes I go through when designing walk in closet space. While concrete things like measurements and materials are more "science", there's an actual "art" to creating a solution that meets the needs of the clients and the parameters of the space." says Butchko. "This book covers both. It's focus is designing the space, not the installation or the fabrication of the closet. "The book, "How To Design a Walk In Closet", highlights: -How to design to maximize corner space -How to design around common closet obstacles like steam mechanicals, doors and windows that interrupt space and inconveniently placed outlets. -The best location for things like long hang, gym clothes and shoe collections. -How to determine whether or not an island will work in the space is in your future -What a bridge shelf is and how to explain it so clients don't think you're "wasting space" -Closet Industry terms

Recipient of the George Terry Book Award sponsored by the Academy of Management "The incredible number of specific illustrations embedded in this text is a great asset. The book will be a good read for a potentially wide academic audience of professors and students (especially in psychology and business schools), anybody interested in contracts in the nonlegal sense, and for 'thinking managers' and practitioners. Psychological Contracts in Organizations will become a standard reference in the organizational sciences by 1997." --Richard Guzzo, University of Maryland, College Park This unique book examines the organizational, social, and psychological meaning of contracts, written and unwritten, in organizations. The author addresses a multitude of important topics, including contract making, interpretation of contracts, contracts that are emerging due to the turmoil and economic forces in the 1990s, contract violations, and strategies for changing contracts. In addition, this volume includes a thought-provoking discussion of how contracts are linked to an organization's strategy and its human resource practices. This outstanding volume concludes with an assessment of societal trends that point to large-scale changes in future employment contracts. Psychological Contracts in Organizations will capture the interest of advanced undergraduate and graduate students, scholars, managers, and researchers in the areas of organizational behavior, management, organizational psychology, human relations, industrial relations, law, and socioeconomics.

Arts of Ancient Nubia

Glorious, sophisticated, and refined works of art produced in ancient Nubia, drawn from one of the richest museum collections in the world and presented in their cultural contexts. Ancient Nubia was home to a series of civilizations between the sixth millennium bce and ad 350 that produced towering monuments, including more pyramids than in neighbouring Egypt, and artifacts of enduring beauty and significance. Nubia’s trade network reached across the Mediterranean and far into Africa. At the time that Nubian kings conquered Egypt, in the middle of the eighth century bce, they controlled one of the largest empires of the ancient world. The Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, has the largest and most important collection of ancient Nubian art outside of Khartoum, mostly gathered during the pioneering Harvard University–Boston Museum of Fine Arts Expedition in the first half of the twentieth century. The objects highlighted in this volume include refined early ceramics, monumental statues and relief carvings made for royal pyramids, exquisite gold and enamel jewelry, playful decorations for furniture and clothing, and luxury goods traded from around the Mediterranean world. Together they provide a fascinating introduction to a sophisticated cultural tradition and a rich history that are still being revealed today.
