The debut poetry collection of C.J. Dexter tells the stories of broken hearts, lost souls, and personal transformation. Dexter uses poetic language to take us through a world of emotions, striking the very hearts of readers like never before. This book relates to those struggling on the inside as many poems convey to the problems of this modern generation. Above all, this book has one purpose: to find the light in a dark world.
C.J. Dexter returns with his sixth poetry collection. In the Broken & Beautiful Things, Dexter dives into the mystical aspect of life's carnage and undeniable beauty to find who we are in the balance of it all. Through exemplary prose, he expresses the very ascension that one must find even in the wreckage of life, ultimately searching for the divinity waiting at life's doors i light a candle for us we. the special kind. who know how to fill our jar of salted tears with overflowing joy. i light a candle for the many of us who go on living with love still leading the way. - C.J. Dexter

African Americans have contributed greatly to the history of American agriculture. One of its most compelling stories is the New Farmers of America (NFA), which was a national organization of Black farm boys studying vocational agriculture in the public schools throughout 18 states in the eastern and southern United States from 1927 to 1965. The organization was started at the suggestion of Dr. H.O. Sargent, federal agent for agricultural education for Blacks, who felt the time was ripe for an organization of Black agricultural students. Operating within the auspices of the Separate but Equal Doctrine, the NFA started at Virginia State University in May 1927 with a few chapters and members and concluded in 1965 with more than 1,000 chapters and more than 58,000 active members, merging with the Future Farmers of America (FFA) as a result of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
