Dive into the rebellious and thought-provoking world of 'Soon to Be Banned Beat Poems' by Elliot M. Rubin. This upcoming release takes readers on a captivating journey through the raw and unfiltered expressions of beat poetry. Rubin's collection, filled with vibrant verses and poignant prose, captures the essence of the Beat Generation, pushing boundaries and challenging societal norms. With themes ranging from existential pondering to passionate manifestos, each poem in this collection serves as a testament to the enduring spirit of counterculture. Brace yourself for a literary experience that transcends convention and invites readers to explore the depths of self-discovery and societal critique. 'Soon to Be Banned Beat Poems' is not just a collection of verses; it's a rebellious ode to the enduring power of poetic expression in the face of societal constraints.Carol Johns stated: This eclectic collection, Elliot's best, demonstrates a maturing of his personal style with his clear masculine vision of the world. His gift for observation of mundane, sometimes ugly details, shows readers that stories are everywhere around us. Elliot, refreshingly, is not a self-absorbed poet-he offers precise snapshots and lets his readers experience their own conclusions. While he creates scenes of great natural beauty "setting summer sun blazes bright as it slowly spirals into the western sky," he is a master of cityscapes "smog smolders like poisonous gas" and the ordinary people that inhabit them. As the antiestablishment beat poets before him, his work is gritty, sometimes angry, and skeptical, but unlike the others, his work exudes a warmth and compassion for the human condition. He provides a record of a scene, choosing the right words that will make his readers feel the unspoken sorrow or joy of what they have been shown. Carol Johns, Retired Teacher of English at Marine Academy of Science and Technology
A slice of life by Elliot M Rubin "Side Street Poems" are reflections from the man who has walked the many side streets of the big city. You'll read about his vocations with a twist as especially Rubin delivers. Hear the thoughts and follow throughs of a man who recalls his youthful days and relates his later years. Find out how the two are in conflict and conquest."Elliot Rubin delivers joy, insight, originality, social critique and devilish wit in his new book, side street poems. Imagine, if you can, a combination of Lenny Bruce, your mom's rabbi, and the metaphysical poets. Elliot rummages around in the dustbins and discards of squalid New York cityscapes to expose its tawdry underbelly. With a sensitive ear for dialogue, he is a masterful portrait painter. His spare, carefully crafted lyrics create a slice of urban life, animating the characters he develops, their collisions, losses, loves, near-misses, and frustrations in the best tradition of poets Charles Bukowski, Jack Kerouac, and Frank O'Hara. In his poem, "poetry community" Elliot writes, "...the beat poets...write freeform, let words and space perform...use metaphors like semaphores to tell a story" as does he in this new collection of poems. You are on high alert not to miss a word of his prodigious output."Roberta Batorsky, Freelance Science Journalist and Poet Once again, Elliot captures all the moments that many take for granted. His poetry speaks to every person about topics from love to lust, from death to parenthood to politics. Rubin's poetry will stand the test of time in its relatable and down to earth form. This newest collection adds to a growing collection of compelling works. Charlene Brown
The increasing popularity of online shopping makes Internet retailing a megatrend that cannot be ignored. The collaboration of two co-authors bringing academic rigor and broad consulting experience into the mix, Internet Retail Operations: Integrating Theory and Practice for Managers offers enduring insights on operational issues and principles for the management of internet supply chains.Covering a range of emerging issues supported by a variety of case studies, the book details the evolution of information technology’s role in retail supply chain networks, its impact on supply chain networks, and how this has changed service operations. It addresses information technology in relation to service and retail industries, then explores how supply chain dynamics impact traditional service and retail delivery, the costs involved, and customer satisfaction and loyalty. It includes tables, vignettes, and graphs that make the content practical and relevant. As you will learn, many attempts at internet retail do not succeed, some because they fail to appreciate the fundamentals, others may have simply been ahead of their time. Many years of experimentation and growth lie ahead. Drawing equally on theory, research results, and real-world experience, the book provides strategies for overcoming the challenges of building operations capability in the evolving world of Internet retailing.

Omni-channel retailing (OCR) strategies have recently emerged as a powerful engine of growth in the retail industry. The goal is to provide consumers with a seamless and consistent shopping experience across different channels and devices. Success in implementing OCR strategies depends on sophisticated compromises between fulfilment responsiveness and product variety across different product types, consumer segments, and shopping occasions. Failures in OCR strategies to optimize the trade-offs between responsiveness and variety are rooted in a poor understanding of how OCR strategies should build on last-mile supply network (LMSN) distribution configurations. This book addresses this issue by developing a typology of LMSN distribution configurations in OCR. Typologies are useful for four reasons:(1) They provide a mechanism for incorporating holistic principles of inquiry into organizational research.(2) They explicitly define patterns of constructs that determine dependent variables while enabling researchers to move beyond traditional linear theories.(3) They provide a means to incorporate equifinality.(4) They establish connections between the findings of various studies. The existing literature covers a number of last-mile typological systems in the supply chain. However, these typologies do not provide a satisfactory characterization of various forms of LMSN distribution configurations in OCR and their unique structure, product/order and information flow, service architecture, and relational and governance aspects. To address these deficiencies in the literature, this typology updates the linearly “chain-centric” extended supply chain models developed previously and provides a framework that integrates multiple theoretical domains and terminologies that have been used disjointedly to describe the various forms of LMSN distribution configurations in OCR. After an introduction, Section 2 presents a review of the literature. Section 3 describes the methodology used to identify the different configuration dimensions and provides definitions of the terminologies. Section 4 describes the LMSN configuration-based typology while Section 5 presents LMSN evolution patterns through the discussion of example cases. Section 6 highlights key insights derived from the typology, elaborates on academic implications, and suggests some research extensions. Section 7 discusses the managerial implications and concludes.
Maya architecture is often described as "massive" and "monumental," but experiments at Copan, Honduras, convinced Elliot Abrams that 300 people could have built one of the large palaces there in only 100 days.In this groundbreaking work, Abrams explicates his theory of architectural energetics, which involves translating structures into volumes of raw and manufactured materials that are then multiplied by the time required for their production and assembly to determine the labor costs of past construction efforts. Applying this method to residential structures of the Late Classic period (A.D. 700-900) at Copan leads Abrams to posit a six-tiered hierarchic social structure of political decision making, ranging from a stratified elite to low-ranking commoners. By comparing the labor costs of construction and other economic activities, he also prompts a reconsideration of the effects of royal construction demands on commoners. How the Maya Built Their World will interest a wide audience in New and Old World anthropology, archaeology, architecture, and engineering.
