Im Ringen um den Platz der Wissenschaft innerhalb der kirchlichen Lehre und eine liberale Position der Lehrenden uberhaupt verkoerpert F. X. Kraus ein Exempel fur die Rankespiele im 19. Jahrhundert. Er besticht dabei mit seinen kritischen Positionen in den wogenden Konflikten zwischen Syllabus errorum und Erstem Vatikanum und erweist sich seinem Umfeld mitunter als weit voraus. Die Arbeit wirft erstmals ein Licht auf seine fruhen Schaffensperioden, insbesondere die ihn pragende Zeit als Fruhmesser mit ihren herausragenden wissenschaftlichen Publikationen. Auf der Basis bislang zum Teil nicht gesichteter und unveroeffentlichter Archivalien seines Nachlasses werden seine Standpunkte und seine Persoenlichkeit herausgearbeitet, welche die Konflikte anschaulich nachempfinden lassen.

Ziel ist es herauszufinden, inwieweit der Jesuit Franz Xaver durch seine Missionsarbeit kulturelle R ume erobert und dabei kulturelle Grenzen verschoben hat. Vor allem jedoch m chte ich mich mit der von Franz Xaver ma geblich betriebenen jesuitischen Mission besch ftigen, ber die wir durch seine Briefe viel erfahren k nnen. Neben dem heiligen Ignatius von Loyola (1491 - 1556) war keine andere Figur so pr gend f r die Jesuiten wie der heilige Franz Xaver (1506 - 1552). So war es zwar Ignatius von Loyola, der die Jesuiten im Jahr 1534 in Paris gr ndete, aber sein Vertrauter Franz Xaver trug durch die Mission in Ostasien ma geblich zur weltweiten Verbreitung der Jesuiten bei. Pr gend waren nicht zuletzt seine Briefe, die 1545 erstmals gedruckt wurden und in Europa bei vielen Menschen Begeisterung f r die christliche Mission weckten. Mit der christlichen Mission - nicht nur in Ostasien - wurden kulturelle R ume erschlossen und Grenzen verschoben. Sie ist ein wichtiger Faktor der europ ischen Expansion, da mit ihr auch westliche Werte und berzeugungen auf anderen Teilen der Welt Einzug hielten. Bis heute ist die jesuitische Mission Vorbild und pr gend f r andere christliche Missionen, die ihr noch folgen sollten. Um das Wesen der jesuitischen Mission zu verstehen, muss man den heiligen Franz Xaver verstehen. Seine Person ist eng mit den Jesuiten und dem damit verbundenen Lebensstil verbunden. Franz Xaver gilt zusammen mit Peter Faber (1506 - 1546) und anderen als Mitbegr nder der Jesuiten. Er wurde 1506 im ehemaligen K nigreich Navarra geboren. Franz Xaver Hauser (17941870), born near Prague in Czechoslovakia, combined his career of singing and teaching with a consuming interest in the music of Johann Sebastian Bach.Hauser was a colleague of Felix Mendelssohn, Moritz Hauptmann, Robert Schumann, Jenny Lind, and Otto Jahn; author of a text on vocal pedagogy that stayed in print for more than a century; founder of the Munich Tonal Academy, which is still in existence; and the primary private contributor to the complete edition of Bach s works.In this remarkable biography, Dale A. Jorgenson discloses the existence of the great legacy left by Hauser. Although his achievements were many, Hauser s greatest contribution was his determined effort to catalogue all the known works of J. S. Bach, collect and share all the original manuscripts and authentic copies of Bach s work, and make his unpublished catalogue, the manuscripts, and his professional guidance available to the Bach Society, which was founded in Leipzig in 1850.This activity provided a meaningful dimension to Hauser s life apart from his stage career. Under sex år korresponderade de med varandra. Efter att Kappus gav ut breven har de kommit i otaliga utgåvor och blivit något av en estetisk nyckeltext för många unga, och blivande, poeter. Här presenteras Rilkes brev för första gången på svenska tillsammans med de brev som Kappus sände. Här kan man alltså se vilka frågor som Rilke försökte besvara, och det kastar ett nytt, och möjligen vemodigt, ljus över poetens råd till sin unge adept.
