Von den spatantiken Umfassungsmauern, uber die monumentale fruhromanische Westfassade, die gigantischen Gewolbe der Fruhgotik, den barocken Umbau bis zur Oberflachengestaltung der 1970er Jahre spannt sich eine fast 1700-jahrige Baugeschichte, die am Trierer Dom ein architektonisches Gebilde von ganz eigentumlichem Reiz hervorgebracht hat. Hinzu kommen Werke der Bildhauerkunst vom hohen Mittelalter bis in die Gegenwart, deren Detailreichtum zur eingehenden Betrachtung einladt. Darunter beispielsweise die bedeutenden Arbeiten des Manierismus von Hans Ruprecht Hoffmann. In eindringlichen Aufnahmen fuhrt der Trierer Fotograf Gerd Detemple in einem Rundgang durch den Dom, der ungewohnliche Einblicke und unbekannte Details verspricht, die Dokumentarisches und Asthetisches vereinen. Erganzt werden die visuellen Eindrucke durch einfuhrende Texte aus fachkundiger Feder zur Baugeschichte, Ausstattung und Bedeutung des Baus.

Though without even knowing it, almost everyone has sat on a chair by Gerd Lange or picked up one of his products at some time or other. The furniture and product designer has created countless everyday objects, and the production runs of his chairs have been spectacularly large. In short, Gerd Lange tremendously influenced the history of design in Germany in the 1970s and 80s. After learning the carpenter trade, Lange studied at Offenbach University of Art and Design and, in 1961, opened his own design studio in Kapsweyer, a hamlet in southwestern Germany. Just seven years later, in 1968, he designed a stacking chair made of a polyamide seat and tubular steel legs. More than a million units were produced over the course of forty-five years. The plain, functional chair with the succinct name “SM 400 K” received Germany’s Federal Prize for Occupational Seating, the U.S. Design Award, and the iF Design Award at the Messe Hannover. It can now be viewed at the Guggenheim Museum and at Rockefeller Center in New York. In 1973 Lange created the first plastic chair with wooden legs, manufactured by Thonet. The designer and author Alfred Hablützel, a profound authority of Gerd Lange’s work, has written the first study of Gerd Lange Design. Richly illustrated and with insightful commentary, Hablützel’s book introduces readers to Lange’s most important designs

The LAMY 2000 fountain pen and the KM 3 food processor are well known even beyond design circles. Nevertheless, their designer, Gerd A. Müller, has faded into obscurity. His designs can be considered pioneering for the development of a new, pared-back design language among well-known companies. Together with Dieter Rams, he was one of the first form designers at Braun. Now, for the very first time, the highly diverse body of work created by this industrial, graphic, ecological and exhibition designer from Frankfurt has been compiled in a publication. Here, the focus is firmly on Gerd A. Müller’s product designs, which have helped shape German industrial design to this day. Text in English and German.

1949 utsågs Gerd Enequist till professor i kulturgeografi och blev samtidigt Uppsala universitets första kvinnliga professor. Hon kom att bli en viktig person för utvecklingen av den moderna kulturgeografin i Sverige och var en geograf ut i fingerspetsarna , som hon själv uttryckte sig. Författaren Gunnel Forsberg, professor em. i kulturgeografi vid Stockholms universitet, har med hjälp av Gerd Enequists eget arkiv till stora delar låtit henne själv berätta sin historia. Fram träder bilden av en hängiven forskare och visionär, en samhällsförbättrare som var trofast mot sina ideal, lojal i sina vänskapsrelationer och med ett stort personligt engagemang. Gerd Enequist blev en kvinnlig förebild inom akademin men ville själv bli ihågkommen som geograf, inte som kvinna, och hon var angelägen om att hennes historia inte skulle nyttjas i fel sammanhang. Boken ger en viktig inblick i den akademiska världen, dess ämnesstrider och spänningar, och även i framväxten av en ny ämnesdisciplin. Samtidigt speglas delar av 1900-talets historia med nedslag i krigstid och kvinnlig luftbevakningstjänst.Utgiven i samarbete med Kungliga Vitterhetsakademien.Gunnel Forsberg är professor emerita i kulturgeografi med samhällsplaneringsinriktning vid Stockholms universitet. Hon har ägnat sig åt utbildning och forskning inom olika kulturgeografiska ämnen. Hennes forskning är huvudsakligen inriktad mot regionala utvecklingsfrågor, landsbygdsomvandling och genusgeografiska frågeställningar, gärna i samverkan med det omgivande samhället.
