Ciao Giulia is a raw, gutsy verbal performance that captures the reality of rape in ways you can't imagine. Through the writing of a sparkling storyteller, we learn that healing comes from confrontation and psycho-physical penance. The sisterhood that nurtures Giulia back to humanness is a testament to women's power to affect change in unique ways. There's no writer like Chickie Farella. Fred L. Gardaphe Distinguished Professor of English and Italian American Studies Queens College/CUNY and the John D. Calandra Italian American Institute Chickie Farella is a creative visionary and truth-teller. Her work is fierce, courageous, honest, and enlightening. As a performance artist, creative nonfiction writer, and fiction writer, she seeks to shed light on the need for justice with compassion for humans and for the planet. In Ciao Giulia, she speaks with a writer's voice that is bold, clear, and unflinching. Her work is a powerful addition to the literary canon of not only female writers-but all writers, male and female. Buy this book Mary Saracino, author of Heretics: A Love Story (Pearlsong Press 2014) and The Singing of Swans (Pearlsong Press 2006) Chickie Farella has the remarkable ability to communicate core values in an accessible way with humor and authenticity. Chickie's ability to embody truth-telling about injustice is reflected in her dramatic performances, her non-fictional published essays, and now in her fictional writing. The Battle of Valle Giulia: Oral History and the Art of Dialogue

The Battle of Valle Giulia: Oral History and the Art of Dialogue

Alessandro Portelli

History, we are often taught, is driven by vast social, political, and economic forces. But each political event, each war, each clash in the streets or at the picket lines, is experienced by individuals. It is this profound bond between public history and personal struggle, Alessandro Portelli contends, that gives oral history its significance and its power. In The Battle of Valle Giulia--the title comes from an Italian student protest of the 1960s--Portelli reflects on how to connect personal memories with history, how to fittingly collect and represent the complexity of memory. Crossing cultures, classes, and generations, he records the private and singular experiences of Italian steelworkers and Kentucky coal miners, veterans and refugees of World War II, soldiers who fought in Vietnam, Italian resistance fighters and Nazis, and members of student movements from Berkeley to Rome. By listening to those whom others presume are "without historical memory"--such as youthful protesters, or the rural Tuscan women who saw every father, son, and brother killed by Nazi soldiers--Portelli clarifies the process by which narratives come into being as oral history, and he illustrates the differences and distances between story-telling and history-telling. Portelli's articulate discussion of dialogue, representation, narrative and genre link historical analysis with literary and linguistic theory and with the concerns of contemporary anthropology.

Poesie Inedite a Giulia Falletti Di Barolo Conservate Nell'archivio Storico Del Comune Di Saluzzo
Poesie Inedite a Giulia Falletti Di Barolo

ALFA ROMEO GIULIA WORKSHOP MANUAL 1962-1975 ALL MODELS 1300, 1600, 1750 & 2000cc
338 pages, with more than 700 illustrations and charts, size 8.25 x 10.75 inches. It should be noted that Alfa Romeo never published an 'all inclusive' workshop manual for the Giulia series of automobiles. Instead, they produced a number of individual 'Mechanical Repair' publications that were focused on the overhaul and service of various mechanical and electrical components plus individual 'Technical Characteristics' publications that provided model specific information. The intention was that these two separate publications were to be used in conjunction with each other in order to provide both technical and mechanical data for a particular model. This manual is compiled using data from seven of those factory 'Mechanical Repair' publications plus a number of additional pages of maintenance, repair, overhaul and wiring diagrams that were not included in the factory publications. Consequently, it provides a generic 'Workshop Manual' for the repair and overhaul of the 1965-1971 Giulia series of automobiles. However, as the 1962-1975 series of Alfa models shared many of the same mechanical components, these 'Mechanical Repair' publications are also of use to owners of both the earlier and later models. For example, even though the engines were of four different capacities they are sufficiently alike for a single set of instructions to suffice for their maintenance and overhaul. The additional pages in this manual include maintenance and repair information on: Drum brakes, hydraulic braking system, Dunlop disc brakes and additional information on ATE disc brakes. Front hubs, shock absorbers and stabilizer rod, ZF steering box, Burman steering box, steering linkage and steering adjustments. Electrical components including control box, regulator, generator, starter motor, windscreen wiper motor (both Bosch & Marelli), lamps and lighting and wiring diagrams for 14 different models. The factory 'Mechanical Repair' publications included in this Manual are: 1) Engine, Clutch & Gearbox Manual for the 1600 Giulia TI, Sprint GT & TI Super. 2) Propeller Shaft, Rear Axle & Suspension for the Giulia 1300, 1300TI the Giulia 1600 TI Super, Sprint GT, GTC, TI, Super, Sprint GT Veloce & Spider 1600. 3) ATE Disc Brakes all models, as appropriate. 4) Wheel, Suspension & Front End Geometry, for all Giulia and 1750 Models. 5) Electrical for the 1600 Giulia Super, 1750 Berlina, 1750 GT Veloce & 1750 Spider Veloce. 6) Air Conditioning all models, as appropriate. 7) Body, for all Giulia and 1750 Models. The importance of using the Alfa Romeo Factory 'Technical Characteristics' publications in conjunction with this Manual: As noted previously, Alfa Romeo also issued a specific 'Technical Characteristics' publication for each individual model (or series of models). While these publications were issued under a variety of different titles, they would be considered to be predominately 'Technical Maintenance & Specifications Manuals'. As these publications were meant to be used in conjunction with the factory 'Mechanical Repair' publications, we feel it is important that the reader is made aware of the associated technical manuals that compliment this workshop manual.
