This is a collection of the scenes from the situational comedy Spiffies and Loonies in which intervenes Mrs. Hazel Twittle, a fiftyish prude and a dimwit that belongs to the theatre of the grotesque. At the beginning, she is a chambermaid. After she has come into a comfortable income from Brad, her cousin's son, she travels abroad, where she has the knack for antagonizing everybody because she can't help expressing her strong disapproval of things she doesn't like. Eventually she returns home frustrated, and settles in a Brighton boarding house to give herself time to find a suitable home. There, she makes friends with Polly, a crook who pretends she is a nun working as a nurse, and who quickly talks her into donating fat cheques for various fake foundations. Finally Mrs. Twittle is confronted with a hippie child psychologist who proves to be an ignorant narcissistic sociopath.

Rollin was the sixth child born to missionary parents in Lima, Peru. The family returned to USA when he was two years of age. Growing up in central California, he spent summers as a migrant farm worker. In 1947, at nine years of age, he attended a Billy Graham crusade where he responded to the invitation by Mr. Graham to come forward as a public expression of faith. He graduated high school in the top 3 percent of his class, having attended eleven different schools. While serving in the US Navy, he met and married Patricia Fink. They parented two sons, Phillip and Timothy. They were proprietors of a printing business for seventeen years. Patricia went to her eternal reward in 1992.One of Rollin's last contracts as proprietor was to print publicity and educational materials for the 1995 Billy Graham crusade. After selling the business, he earned a degree in cultural studies and relocated to New Mexico, where he met Hazel Rosalie Garcia at a senior center. They were married a year later.*****Hazel Rosalie Garcia was born in northern New Mexico to families that migrated from Spain about the sixteenth or seventeenth century. Her father, Ulysses, enlisted in the Army Air Corps during WWII. After the war, Hazel moved with her parents to Albuquerque, where she and her four siblings attended public schools. Hazel graduated from HS, earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from BIOLA college in Los Angeles, retired from working for the US government after twenty-five years, then earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado Christian University.*****Together, Rollin and Hazel have coauthored writing and teaching projects, including When I'm Lost, He Comes to Find Me. Amphibian embryos are supremely valuable in studies of early vertebrate development because they are large, handle easily, and can be obtained at many interesting stages. And of all the amphibians available for study, the most valuable is Xenopus laevis, which is easy to keep and ovulates at any time of year in response to simple hormone injections. Xenopus embryos have been studied for years but this is a particularly exciting time for the field. Techniques have become available very recently that permit a previously impossible degree of manipulation of gene expression in intact embryos, as well as the ability to visualize the results of such manipulation. As a result, a sophisticated new understanding of Xenopus development has emerged, which ensures the species' continued prominent position among the organisms favored for biological investigation. This manual contains a comprehensive collection of protocols for the study of early development in Xenopus embryos. It is written by several of the field's most prominent investigators in the light of the experience they gained as instructors in an intensive laboratory course taught at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory since 1991. As a result it contains pointers, hints, and other technical knowledge not readily available elsewhere. This volume is essential reading for all investigators interested in the developmental and cell biology of Xenopus and vertebrates generally. Many of the techniques described here are illustrated in an accompanying set of videotapes which are cross-referenced to the appropriate section of the manual.
