He befriended the Nemalite people, lived among them, met their Viron gods... and set out to save the Nemalites from the vicious threat of the Atlans... But everything since his rebirth had been lies and manipulations. His attack upon the Atlans plunged those innocents into hellish turmoil and condemned many to a fate far crueller than death. Now Hector fights alongside the surviving Atlans in an effort to undo the terrible harm he has unleashed. Despite the Atlans hating and condemning him, he teaches them how to fight the Nemalites' Shaltine warriors and gains the trust of the Atlan queen Nafron. However, a disastrous battle seems to shatter the Atlans' hopes - leaving Hector and Nafron hunted by hundreds of their enemies... Hector's Atlan comrades foresee their own defeat, followed by the conquest of Hector's world. They are outnumbered, outmatched and demoralised. How can they overcome: The Nemalites, who can forge armies with magic...The Shaltine - giant, fearless, tireless automatons...The Viron, the malevolent living gods of the Nemalites, deep beneath the impenetrable city of Vir...And, worst of all, the resurrected Achilles - the monstrous Greek warrior who brutally slaughtered Hector in the Trojan War..? Hector has learned of the genocide of his own people at Troy. He is determined to prevent such an atrocity being committed upon the Atlans and across his own world. His strength comes from a burning desire for retribution. There is no sacrifice he will not make and no torment he will not endure, in order to succeed... Can he possibly save two worlds? This volume concludes the saga of Hector Reborn. Reviews from this author's fantasy releases: ...for the Hector Reborn saga: "...I couldn't put it down. Amongst all the fantasy and action, the strongest part of the story is Hector's character. He is governed by honour and loyalty - which not only leads him into conflict, but leads him to cause a disaster. We see many sides of him, from his personal strength, to his heartbreak and loss, to a desperation to fix the terrible things he causes... to him being almost destroyed by another twist in the novel... very cleverly written - I highly recommend this book.""...This novel is definitely unique as it incorporates history and fantasy into one whirlwind of a story. We are immediately transported into the world of Hector, the Prince warrior who is determinedly trying to protect his homeland before his death at the hand of Achilles... Hector as a character is hard not to like, he has a distinct set of values and is loyal to a fault. Although granted this does get him into trouble later in the book and he is not immune to making mistakes it was good to read. Without giving away too many spoilers the other characters were definitely full of surprises and the author has no qualms about character deaths. A storm from hell itself? After a weekend stopover in the big city, the six passengers of a double-decker bus are on their way home at night. Maddie, their driver, is tough and experienced... but soon very out of her depth. Before they can reach the outskirts of the city, a rainstorm begins like no other Maddie has ever encountered... This rain is raw, searing acid. Just a drop on human skin is enough to inflict an agonising burn - and those people caught in the downpour suffer horrendously. Chaos consumes the streets as victims go wild from excruciating pain. Vehicles collide in the panic and the bloodshed escalates... The acid rain is attacking not only organic matter, but also plastics, rubber, metals, glass and other materials. It slowly eats through shelters - like buildings and vehicles - to devour the living prey inside. Maddie's bus becomes both a prison and a haven for the seven travellers. Escaping the storm is their only chance for survival. They flee through a landscape being transformed by a dark, liquid apocalypse... while their vehicle deteriorates and their nerves shred with terror... Working together, the travellers try to reinforce their mobile shelter and to overcome the harrowing ordeals forced upon them. But how long will the bus continue to run before it succumbs to the acid? Is there any hope left in this realm of torment and death? And what new horror awaits them... even more grotesque and appalling than the acid rain? Roman ambition created a lethal horror almost 2000 years ago. Since then it has been waiting - starving, hating and utterly insane... Julie Harrison is a smart, dedicated British university student. Together with her over-protective brother Michael and his jealous girlfriend, she joins a caving trip into Maar's Maw in the Pennines. However, adventure turns to terror when the team become trapped deep underground - in the lair of an ancient behemoth. Amid the chaos and panic, Julie finds the courage to lead the survivors. She knows they must work together, to try to evade the beast that now stalks them and to discover a way of escape. Their journey reveals evidence of ancient conflicts and slaughter, and clues to how their hunter was created. As days pass, they become exhausted, sick and hungry. They suffer the harrowing loss of friends to the monstrosity's ravenous attacks. Hope ebbs away... How far will friendship take the survivors? What extremes will their darker sides take them to?Can anyone escape this subterranean hell and the relentless wrath of the God Of War? Review by Sefina Hawke for Readers' Favorite: God Of War by Ian Thompson is a suspense filled novel that will appeal most to an audience made up of a mix of mature young adults and adults who enjoy the idea of being scared out of their minds. God Of War portrays a horror that started back during the Roman occupation when one Gaius Pertinax wanted to find something more, something really special for the gladiators. What he brought about was a horror that still exists in modern times and is found by a group of cavers who are hunted by it.God Of War will make even the bravest reader quake in their shoes; it is a book best read during the day as reading it at night is likely to give nightmares. God Of War is extremely well written with each scene described in fluent language that transitions beautifully from one scene to the next. Ian Thompson offers multiple perspectives from different time periods and characters to really allow the reader to understand the horror, the events, as well as the characters themselves. Each character was well written; my favorite part was the beginning of the book that focuses on John, Mary, and Melissa. I really felt for all of them and was sadden by the tragedy of their lives. I finished God Of War feeling shaken and a bit worried about nightmares, but that is the mark of a good horror novel. 4/5(Link to Review: readersfavorite.com/book-review/god-of-war) "Gory, scary and totally unpredictable story. Ian Thompson is definitely one to watch."5/5 Review on Amazon UK by a Kindle Customer From other 5-Star Reviews for Ian Thompson: "...extremely well written and very dark... Amongst all the fantasy and action, the strongest part of the story is Hector's character. He is governed by honour and loyalty - which not only leads him into conflict, but leads him to cause a disaster. We see many sides of him, from his personal strength, to his heartbreak and loss, to a desperation to fix the terrible things he causes... to him being almost destroyed by another twist in the novel... very cleverly written - I highly recommend this book."

Vol I: The Apocalypse Begins Hatred, distrust and conflict divide the nations of the world of Emeran - at a time when an apocalyptic threat is rising. Hordes of demonic warriors swarm from beyond the great Wall of Light. They crush opposing armies. They eradicate towns and villages. They have already slaughtered the Unseen Gods... This is an invasion like no other. Their purpose is not to expand their territory, to instil their doctrines on other people or to plunder the riches of their prey, but simply to destroy every living thing... Experience the rising conflict through the lives of characters across Emeran... Inside the walled city of Tremok, the Human princesses Lar and Pec suddenly find themselves in command of a Kingdom, even while they mourn the loss of their father. Lar, a trained warrior, must lead the defence of the city; her mystic sister sets off on a suicidal quest against their enemies... The traveller Cu'si'war returns home to warn his people of the oncoming threat and to urge the pacifist Graex to revert to their former warrior ways... In the Callis lands, a condemned coward named Corfel struggles frantically to save his family... The Callis Captain Plynn and the Human Captain Ku are unaware of the invasion - and are about to engage their armies in a great, futile battle of their own... And The Death, a member of the hunted and now-rare Vere race, continues on a solitary mission of vengeance... Plunge into a realm facing annihilation: Epic battles and gritty action. Dark magic and horrendous monstrosities. Soul-crushing choices. Impossible odds, defeat and despair. Witness the fall of the Wall of Light and the first encounters with the invading hordes. Be at the centre of conflicts erupting all over Emeran: in the forest townships of the Callis; at beautiful Mesamir, capital of the Graex; on Deshnere Plain where vast armies collide; and inside the city of Tremok, under assault by hundreds of thousands of invaders. Join the desperate mission behind enemy lines. Feel the wealth of emotions embroiled in this war-torn saga - from love and unswerving loyalty, to the bitterest sorrow, to savage bloodlust and unbridled terror. Against the coming of the Era of Darkness, heroism, desperation and self-sacrifice will surely not be enough. Vol II: Extinction Hundreds of thousands of warriors have already perished in the war against the demon invaders. Now the conflict reaches a devastating conclusion... Queen Lar's defence of Tremok has inflicted massive casualties upon the demon hordes. In response, the invaders amass all their forces from across the world of Emeran to besiege and annihilate the walled city. The Demon Masters know that once Tremok falls, all hope is lost for Emeran. The raw heroism of Tremok's defenders faces a force which utterly outnumbers and outmatches them. Battles become more and more desperate. Human numbers dwindle in every slaughter. Survivors are exhausted and losing hope... Can the unexpected arrival of reinforcements possibly turn the tide of the conflict in Lar's favour? And what of the new demon reinforcements? More lethal warriors. More terrible weapons. More horrific allies... Yet, worse is to come... What has happened to Pec's expedition to the Demon Masters' citadel? Has an insidious betrayal consigned the nations of Emeran to extinction? Slaughter At Ghastar is the first in an all-new spin-off series of novellas set in the apocalyptic Era Of Darkness. Hordes of demonic warriors swarm from beyond the great Wall of Light. They crush opposing armies. They eradicate towns and villages. They have already slaughtered the Unseen Gods... This is an invasion like no other. Their purpose is not to expand their territory, to instil their doctrines on other people or to plunder the riches of their prey, but simply to destroy every living thing. At dawn, the demon forces reach the peaceful Human village of Ghastar - and an atrocious massacre ensues... Amid the fleeing villagers are four friends. Nidel is a strong but fearful nineteen-year-old man, who is desperate to protect his younger sister Dansel. Tanner and Lul are brothers and traders; Tanner is fifty and a stout boastful liar; Lul is half his age, very intelligent but quiet-natured. A fourteen-year-old girl named Vina joins the group and they reach the outskirts of Ghastar... Here the refugees meet Tygis, an old hermit believed to be an addled fool. They retreat into his small cabin - and discover there is more to the hermit that anyone could have ever believed. Yet soon the cabin is surrounded and under siege by demons. Makeshift barricades won't last long under the mammoth onslaught. The six villagers will have to fight for their lives against the overwhelming invaders... Can anyone survive? Whereas Era Of Darkness tells the story of the demonic invasion on a huge scale, Survival depicts it from the perspective of a small group of refugees - not great warriors or leaders of nations, but ordinary people caught up in a catastrophe. Homeless and terrified, they are already victims of war. To make it through to the end of one terrible day, each character will need to summon up more courage than they ever knew they possessed. Reviews for the Era Of Darkness saga: "Wow The world Ian Thompson created for Era of Darkness is immense, and his cast of characters is huge. Luckily, Mr. Thompson is a fantastic guide. He drops you in the middle of the action and leads you through a world bracing itself against its inevitable demise. The action is intense, the battles are brutal, and the characters are complex and very real. What a great story ...I did thoroughly enjoy this story, and I will be picking up Era of Darkness Volume II: Extinction. If you love heart-pumping action and vicious battles, you have to read this book. However, I must warn. The action is brutal and gruesome. If you're squeamish about blood (or organs exploding or bones shattering), you may want to avoid this one.""...vividly descriptive with an almost metered artistry...""...Fast and furious paced action fantasy. Great characters that you really care for. Battles are huge and bloodthirsty. Cool races and well-designed monsters. A cracking-good read... ""I was impressed by the quality of the storytelling... an enthralling mix... a solid read" "...intense battles, incredible dark magic... so many twists and turns... I loved it""I was completely sucked in and captivated from the first page""...mixture of fantasy, mystery, loyalty that make it a one of a kind story""Wonderful characters and an even better story""This was my first peek at this series and author. I'll definitely be reading more from him. This is an interesting short read. Lots of action and sometimes gory descriptive details. It's a nice introduction to a couple of the characters and really sets the stage for what's to come. This appears to be a vast new world that I'm ready to learn more about."

The author did a great job of creating a palpable sense of doom that surrounds the main character from the beginning, and then creating more tension and horror as the story went on..."(Into The Hole) Review from 'Home Grown Horror Reviews': Glancing Blow introduces us to a vocalist who's just made his big-ish break. After recording his first ever album, he's making the 300 mile drive back home. It's late at night, and the rain is coming down hard. Suddenly, something darts in front of his car, and he clips it with his bumper. Going back to check on the poor animal, he inadvertently throws himself into a frantic and brutal struggle for survival. Thompson shows true mastery of the short horror story. There is enough buildup to ensure that we actually care about the character and the situation, but the action begins quickly and lasts the duration of the story. The story is told in first person past tense, leading you to believe that our hero survives the ordeal. The narration can come across as a bit clinical at times, especially in certain descriptions. The overall vibe that the prose gives off is that the character is recounting his story for the record, after the fact. The panic and desperation felt in the moment sometimes bleeds through that detached tone, adding to the emotion of certain moments. Thompson has crafted a wildly imaginative antagonist unlike anything I've read before. The character's descriptions are very clear, leaving not much to the imagination. This could be construed as a good thing or a bad thing, depending on your own opinion. I think that the clear description adds to the idea that perhaps the main character is recording his story for law enforcement after the fact. Ian Thompson delivers exactly what he has promised- a quick, captivating read full of horror and thrills. The tense action and suspense of Glancing Blow make it incredibly hard to put down. Chances are, you'll run through this one in a single sitting. Thompson starts his Short Horror Tales series strongly, and I'm looking forward to continuing with the next story. He's lost his job, found his wife cheating on him, and discovered that his kid isn't even his. All he wants to do is drink himself into oblivion. In a shady part of town, the drunken Nigel is propositioned by the most beautiful woman he's ever seen. As uncharacteristic as it is for him, he decided to take her up on the offer and buy a night of fun. Before long, his night of fun turns into a night of terror when the woman isn't what she seems. As is par for Thompson's Short Horror Tales series, Hooker lays the groundwork with likable and relatable characters before ruthlessly punishing them. There is just enough set-up so that the reader is invested in Nigel and his troubles. This can be a tricky line to balance in a short story. Too much exposition and the reader is bored; too little and the reader just doesn't care. Once again, Thompson walks that tightrope with expertise. When the blood starts to splatter, Nigel's day gets really rough. Thompson has devised a brilliantly brutal creature to sic on his leading man. Creative and twisted, the monster is a total terror. With just enough characterization and set up to bring Nigel fully to life, Thompson wastes no time getting to the horror. And once the horror starts to flow, it explodes like a firehose, utterly drenching poor Nigel till the last page.
