With the discovery of a new vendor at the yearly Clairemont Bazaar, Isobel's life is about to change. The purchase of an antique Royal typewriter for her own writing projects will turn out to be the answer to her prayers when it starts protecting her from the hands of her abusive husband. At first, she uses the unexplainable phenomenon as an advantage, but; she will soon find out the machine has an agenda of its own as its punishments start to harm innocent people. With help from Clara, a young girl who claims to have been paralyzed by the machine, Isobel finds herself in a battle of wills between herself and the typewriter in which there is no escape until the monster forces her into a face-off where the only way to win is death or destruction.
Excerpt from Isobel: A Romance of the Northern Trail Pelliter is sick with a strange trouble in his head. At times I have been afraid he was going mad, and if he lives I advise his transfer south at an early date. I am leaving for Churchill two weeks ahead of the usual time in order to get medicines. I also wish to add a word to what I said about wolves in my last report. We have seen them repeatedly in packs of from fifty to one thousand. Late this autumn a pack attacked a large herd of traveling caribou fifteen miles in from the Bay, and we counted the remains of one hun dred and sixty animals killed over a distance of less than three miles. I t is my opinion that the wolves kill at least five thousand caribou in this patrol each year. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
