Our intention for writing this forty day devotional is so that you will never grow complacent in your praise. This book covers anywhere from the general sense of why we praise, to our praise through worship and the when, why and how of praise. As a follower of Jesus, it is a necessity that praise be continually on our lips. Praise is not optional for the believer, but it is of utmost importance. I would dare say that if your relationship with Jesus is stale, dry or not where you would like to see it, start praising. If life circumstances or situations are wearing you down, start praising. Whatever season you find yourself in, I challenge you to increase your praise. Let His praise ever be on your lips Lead Pastor, Jason Smith

An inspiring memoir of life, love, loss, and new beginnings by the widower of bestselling children’s author and filmmaker Amy Krouse Rosenthal, whose last of act of love before her death was setting the stage for her husband’s life without her in the viral New York Times Modern Love column, “You May Want to Marry My Husband.”On March 3, 2017, Amy Krouse Rosenthal penned an op-ed piece for the New York Times’ “Modern Love” column —”You May Want to Marry My Husband.” It appeared ten days before her death from ovarian cancer. A heartbreaking, wry, brutally honest, and creative play on a personal ad—in which a dying wife encouraged her husband to go on and find happiness after her demise—the column quickly went viral, reaching more than five million people worldwide. In My Wife Said You May Want to Marry Me, Jason describes what came next: his commitment to respecting Amy’s wish, even as he struggled with her loss. Surveying his life before, with, and after Amy, Jason ruminates on love, the pain of watching a loved one suffer, and what it means to heal—how he and their three children, despite their profound sorrow, went on. Jason’s emotional journey offers insights on dying and death and the excruciating pain of losing a soulmate, and illuminates the lessons he learned. As he reflects on Amy’s gift to him—a fresh start to fill his empty space with a new story—Jason describes how he continues to honor Amy’s life and her last wish, and how he seeks to appreciate every day and live in the moment while trying to help others coping with loss. My Wife Said You May Want to Marry Me is the poignant, unreserved, and inspiring story of a great love, the aftermath of a marriage ended too soon, and how a surviving partner eventually found a new perspective on life’s joys in the wake of tremendous loss.

Divided Village: The Cold War in the German Borderlands
In 1983, then-US Vice President George H.W. Bush delivered a speech in London. He had just been in West Berlin and spoke about his first visit to the Berlin Wall. Bush then went on to describe another German wall he saw after Berlin: "if anything, that wall was an even greater obscenity than its eponym to the north." The story of that wall is a fascinating and valuable slice of the history of post-war Europe. That wall had gone up nearly two hundred miles southwest of Berlin at the edge of divided Germany, in the tiny, remote farming village of Mödlareuth. For nearly half the twentieth century, the Iron Curtain divided Mödlareuth in two. In this little valley surrounded by forests and fields, the villagers of Mödlareuth found themselves on the literal front-line of the Cold War. The East German state gradually militarized the border through the community while eastern villagers exhibited a range of responses to cope with their changing circumstances, reflective of the variable nature of the Cold War border through Germany: along the Iron Curtain, the size and isolation of the divided place influenced the local character of the division.
The Messiah, His Brothers, and the Nations
Why does Matthew append ‘and his brothers' to Judah and Jechoniah (1:2, 11)? Secondly, why does Matthew include the following four annotations: ‘and Zerah by Tamar', ‘by Rahab', ‘by Ruth', and ‘by the [wife] of Uriah' (1:3-6)? Jason B. Hood uses a composition critical approach in which he examines biblical genealogies and ‘summaries of Israel's story' in order to shed light on these features of Matthew's gospel.
The Messiah, His Brothers, and the Nations
This is an updated look at the function of biblical genealogies, and the relationship between "Matthew" 1 and 28. Why does Matthew append 'and his brothers' to Judah and Jechoniah (1:2, 11)? Secondly, why does Matthew include the following four annotations: 'and Zerah by Tamar', 'by Rahab', 'by Ruth', and 'by the [wife] of Uriah' (1:3-6)? Jason B. Hood uses a composition critical approach in which he examines biblical genealogies and 'summaries of Israel's story' in order to shed light on these features of "Matthew's" gospel. Hood asserts that he addition of 'and his brothers' recalls Jesus' royal role. Judah and Jechoniah in Second Temple literature are both understood to have reversed their wickedness and earned royal status by self-sacrifice, perhaps pointing to the self-sacrifice of Jesus for his brothers before his full enthronement. A review of scholarly explanations of the significance of the 'four (five) women' in the genealogy, unearths an overlooked interpretation - Matthew does not name four women in 1:3-6 but four Gentiles (Tamar, Rahab, Ruth and Uriah) traditionally celebrated as righteous. It is the waning years of World War II, and Second Lieutenant Franklin Boone has just arrived at his new post, a small U.S. Army fort called Fort Miles. The fort is located in Southern Delaware, along the shores of the Delaware Bay, and is the last line of defense against the threat of German U-boats that might want to attack the cities of Philadelphia and Wilmington. Franklin's assignment is to research and develop the Army's metal detection technology. His research finds him working not only in a laboratory, but also out on the dunes that surround the fort. The dunes, however, are unique in that they ebb and flow with the changing weather, and can be completely different from one day to the next. While testing his metal detectors out on the dunes, Franklin inadvertently discovers a gold coin, and within a few weeks has found that the shoreline around his new home is littered with buried treasures. The more treasure he finds, the more he wants to be out on the dunes. But he also finds it difficult to control his desire for more precious metals. Soon enough, Franklin is approached by a local man named Israel Mouzellas, who has been secretly watching Franklin. Israel explains to Franklin that he too is currently on a treasure hunt, but it's not just for some random gold or silver coins. In fact, Israel is looking for an old sailing yacht that was run aground two decades earlier during a hurricane. On the boat was apparently many cases of rum, a box of gold bars, and unfortunately for Israel, his father who was in the process of plundering the boat when it was run aground and then swallowed by the dunes. Franklin agrees to join Israel in his quest, but soon finds that the man he has chosen to work with has a past that is shadowed in secrets and violence. But the thought of all the gold on the ship keeps Franklin working with Israel. When the two finally find the boat, it is not what they had hoped, and suddenly Franklin is caught in the middle of surrounding forces that are not hesitant to use violence to get what they want.
