Many books have been written about the superintendency and all aspects of it. Additionally, “standards for superintendents” have been written by the American Association for School Administrators (AASA). These eight standards deal with Leadership and District Culture, Policy and Governance, Communications and Community Relations, Organizational Management, Curriculum Planning and Development, Instructional Management, Human Resource Management, and Values and Ethics of Leadership.States have standards that mirror these. Texas, for example, put the standards into three domains: Leadership of the Educational Community; Instructional Leadership; and Administrative Leadership. Within these three domains are listed the eight competencies which reflect AASA’s eight standards. Daily Devotions for Superintendents covers many of the standards but really hones in on Competency 1 which read, “The superintendent knows how to act with integrity, fairness, and in an ethical manner in order to promote the success of all students.”Containing 366 devotionals written to challenge, encourage, and to daily feed the superintendents as they face the many different situations in their personal lives and in the schools under their leadership, Daily Devotions for School Superintendents looks at all areas of the superintendency and provides daily devotionals from every book in the Bible. In addition, each daily verse is followed with powerful reflections to clearly illustrate and drive the principles home. All verses are taken from the King James version of the Bible and uncover God’s presence, power, and provision for directing superintendents in their daily activities.

In this volume, world-class contributors from a variety of backgrounds (including industrial/organizational psychology, personality psychology, and educational assessment) all come together to share their unique perspective on the larger issues at hand. In addition to showcasing cutting-edge research, Building Better Students offers insightful commentary and provides readers with the opportunity to not only reflect on these issues, but how to move the needle further for this generation and beyond.

People often rely on mental shortcuts, known as heuristics, to help them make judgments and decisions quickly and efficiently. While, generally, these heuristics lead to accurate judgments, in certain circumstances, heuristics can bias problem-solving and decision-making producing errors with serious consequences. What We Know About Heuristics and Biases introduces the literature on heuristics and provides an assessment tool designed to obviate these problems. Measuring six cognitive and social biases—confirmation bias, fundamental attribution error, the bias blind spot, anchoring bias, representativeness bias, and projection bias–this tool provides an innovate and cutting edge method for assessment professionals and researchers in measurement.

?A collection of cult sensation Jeremy Robert Johnson's best and most bizarre short fiction, including a brand-new, never-before-published novella. For more than a decade, Jeremy Robert Johnson has been bubbling under the surface of both literary and genre fiction. His short stories present a brilliantly dark and audaciously weird realm where cosmic nightmares collide with all-too-human characters and apocalypses of all shapes and sizes loom ominously. In 'When Susurrus Stirs,' an unlucky pacifist must stop a horrifying parasite from turning his body into a sentient hive. An intensely moving tale of survival, loss, and madness along the river's edge. A father and son fishing lesson becomes a nightmarish voyage to the sea in this visionary testament to the lengths we will go for those we love."The simple story of a father and son going fishing somehow morphs into a soul-shattering tale of anxiety, loss, and vengeance wrapped in a surreal narrative about the things that can keep a person between this world and the next. Johnson is a maestro of the weird and one of the best writers in crime and horror, but this one erases all of those genres and makes him simply one of the best."―PANK Magazine"This is superb fiction with a raw, throbbing, aching heart at its core that is far too big to be contained within the book's pages but that is, by some bizarre magic, still there."―Vol. 1 Brooklyn "In the River is a brilliant offering; the pain and strange beauty of it will wash over you and sweep you away."―Scream Magazine "Gripping, horrifying, surreal...Think The Old Man and the Sea meets The Pearl meets Pet Sematary...But, dare I say it, In the River takes you to even darker places..."―Verbicide
