Big dreams are rare but highly memorable dream experiences that make a strong and lasting impact on the dreamer's waking awareness. The office of Elder is an important position within the church and no one should serve under compulsion. Delight, rather than duty, should fuel our service. In fact, having a desire to serve as an Elder is one of the first qualifications for service and an indication that God is calling you to this office for service. Paul appointed Elders in each church he established because they are vital to the effective work of God's people (Acts 14:23), and for that reason this opportunity for service should not be taken lightly. In an effort to strengthen the office of Elder at Glen Ellyn Bible Church (GEBC) and equip the men who have a desire for service, we have put together this notebook, which covers the theology, philosophy of ministry and the responsibilities of Elder leadership at GEBC.
