Some people with excess fat in the liver simply have what's called a fatty liver. Although this is not normal, it's not serious if it doesn't lead to inflammation or damage. However, once there's a buildup of simple fat, the liver becomes vulnerable to injury which may result in inflammation and scarring of the liver. Others have what's called Nonalcoholic Steatohepatisis (NASH). Although it is similar to alcoholic liver disease, people with this type of fatty liver disease drink little or no alcohol. NASH can lead to permanent liver damage, as the liver may enlarge and, over time, liver cells may be replaced by scar tissue. This is called cirrhosis. Unfortunately both types of NAFLD are becoming more common. Up to 20% of adults may have either fatty liver or NASH. One of the most common causes of fatty liver disease is obesity as well as Diabetes Mellitus. More than 6 million children have one of these conditions, which are most common in Asian children. Based on the most current and comprehensive information available, the authors have created this indispensable guide for anyone living with and managing fatty liver disease. There is extensive information on the causes of NAFLD, the symptoms and signs, and the treatment options like medications, exercise and diet. Because diet plays such a major role in managing the condition, there are 75 specially selected recipes that contribute to a well-balanced diet that is low in saturated fats and high in fibre.

Modern urban architecture by the renowned and multi-award-winning firm praised for structures that respond to often-challenging contexts, and with a self-imposed mandate to build in a way that furthers the social good.A desire to redefine the ways architecture can contribute to truly progressive causes has always been a hallmark of the work of Lorcan O’Herlihy Architects (LOHA). From transforming unloved parcels of land in Los Angeles and Detroit to intensely creative and eminently livable housing complexes for students, tech workers, and underserved populations such as veterans, this firm has time and again proved its ability to design intelligently and with a deeplyembedded social conscience. LOHA ensures that even its most contemporary-looking creations reflect in some way the personality of the site or longtime inhabitants. The firm may accomplish this by incorporating familiar materials, such as the stone used in a surrounding neighborhood’s most beloved historic downtown buildings, or reinterpreting 1970s A-frame houses by cleverly updating their angles for the twenty-first century to bring light and air deep into a constrained urban lot.

Mirren was born to magic. A generational healer, she loves her craft and community and looks forward to a life of service. Tucked away from the world in Boann Tarns Valley, she never imagines that one man can threaten her way of life and the lives of women to come. Then Prelate Lorcan descends upon her father's inn and sets his sights on Mirren, unleashing nightmares that reveal the awful truth. She is the scion of natural magic, the pivot upon which one hundred generations of women will turn, and she must outsmart Lorcan before he destroys their future. Ariel, mysterious and alluring, only worsens Mirren's predicament, for he distracts her from honing her magic against Lorcan's threat. Her only choice is to flee to an ancient monastery in hopes of learning what she must do to survive. There, she walks between the worlds and discovers that her heart is her most potent weapon against the prelate. Even so, her final ordeal takes her to the brink of death, where she engages her primal magic and chooses love and life with Ariel.
