M.K. Gandhi: An Autobiography is the story of Gandhiji's, covering his life from early childhood through to 1920. It gives an authentic account of the personal life of a man who led millions into independence. Gandhiji wrote in his autobiography that the three most important modern influences in his life were Leo Tolstoy's The Kingdom of God Is Within You, John Ruskin's Unto This Last and the poet Shrimad Rajchandra. In the last chapter, he notes that his life from this point onward became so public that there was hardly anything about it that people did not know. Being a proponent of Ahimsa or nonviolence, Gandhi diligently stuck to a set of practices from early on in life. The book gives us a better understanding of the habits that Gandhi rigorously inculcated into his daily routine. His childhood, his journey to England, his life in South Africa and the non-cooperation movement in India are all discussed at length in this mind-opening book.

This volume is Ambedkar’s criticism of the Indian nationalist leader M.K. Gandhi, and the grand old party of India, the Indian National Congress, for their position towards the untouchable community. He felt that both the party and Gandhi had underestimated the cause of the upliftment of untouchables. He also shared his personal experience where he was mistreated by his upper-caste peers despite having high educational credentials. Coming back from England, after achieving his double doctorate from the London School of Economics, he entered into mainstream politics by forming a party for untouchables, the Independent Labour Party. He relates his personal experiences and other factual shreds of evidence and arguments when he criticizes both the party and Gandhian politics for not widely representing the untouchables in mainstream politics.
Views on Hindu Dharma by M.K. Gandhi
Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi took pride in calling himself a Sanatani Hindu. He lived by what he professed. Indeed, he spiritualized his entire political existence and his very opinion, world view and discourse was weighted with morality and ethics born of Hindu Dharma. This timely compilation of Mahatma Gandhi’s views on Hindu Dharma is a remarkable and systematically arranged compendium of his ideas on every aspect of India’s social and political life.Gandhi’s views – disseminated through many short essays in Harijan and other journals of his time – on Sanatan Dharma, idol worship, Rama as a God, compulsory teaching of Gita in schools, conversion, cow-slaughter and protection, varnashramas, untouchability and other aspects are presented here in his own words. This volume is indispensable for scholars of Modern South Asian History, Gandhian Thought, Colonialism and Religious Studies. Please note: Taylor & Francis does not sell or distribute the Hardback in India, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka
