This book investigates the political and spiritual agenda behind monumental paintings of Christ's miracles in late Byzantine churches in Constantinople, Mystras, Thessaloniki, Mount Athos, Ohrid, and Kastoria. It is the first exhaustive examination of Christ's miracles in monumental decoration, offering a comparative and detailed analysis of their selection, grouping, and layout and redefining the significance of this diverse and unique iconography in the early Palaiologan period. Maria Alessia Rossi argues that these painted cycles were carefully and inventively crafted by the cultural milieu, secular and religious, surrounding Emperor Andronikos II (r. 1282–1328) at a time of ferment in the early Palaiologan era. Furthermore, by adopting an interdisciplinary approach, she demonstrates that the novel flowering of Christ's miracles in art was not an isolated phenomenon, but rather emerged as part of a larger surge in literary commissions, and reveals how miracles became a tool to rewrite history and promote Orthodoxy.

Hilbert Functions play major roles in Algebraic Geometry and Commutative Algebra, and are becoming increasingly important also in Computational Algebra. They capture many useful numerical characters associated to a projective variety or to a filtered module over a local ring. Starting from the pioneering work of D.G. Northcott and J. Sally, we aim to gather together in one place many new developments of this theory by using a unifying approach which gives self-contained and easier proofs. The extension of the theory to the case of general filtrations on a module, and its application to the study of certain graded algebras which are not associated to a filtration are two of the main features of the monograph. The material is intended for graduate students and researchers who are interested in Commutative Algebra, in particular in the theory of the Hilbert Functions and related topics.

En la Argentina los principales insectos causantes de biodeterioro en mobiliario de valor patrimonial son escarabajos (Ptinidae, Coleoptera). Las especies m s frecuentes en maderas en servicio son Anobium punctatum y Xyletinus brasiliensis. El da o corresponde a galer as internas y orificios semicirculares en la superficie, que producen el debilitamiento del soporte. Las cucarachas (Blattodea) y las ara as (Araneae) producen manchas con fecas, las telas de ara as colaboran con la acumulaci n de suciedad y los restos de la fauna mencionada representan un sustrato para la contaminaci n qu mica y el desarrollo de otros organismos biodeteriorantes. La identificaci n espec fica, los conocimientos sobre la biolog a y la detecci n de indicios del accionar de estos insectos, son fundamentales para la implementaci n de medidas de conservaci n a fin de detener o minimizar el deterioro, asegurando el resguardo de las maderas y otros materiales. En esta contribuci n, se presentan ejemplos ilustrativos pr cticos de biodeterioro causado por insectos en mobiliario de valor patrimonial del Museo de La Plata, Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Se impone la rutina hospitalaria sin atender las necesidades particulares de cada una de ellas, identific ndolas por su patolog a, ofreci ndoles una sala com n, con largas horas de mate y pasividad . El espacio de musicoterapia se ofrece entonces, como un espacio humanizante, les ofrece el reencuentro con la m sica en general y sus m sicas en particular, resignificando su historia y habilitando una expresi n propia, particular y diferente en cada una. La intenci n de este trabajo es la de conocer la opini n de las participantes acerca del dispositivo musicoterapeutico del cual forman parte. Conocer la percepci n subjetiva, no solo desde la instancia cl nica, sino por fuera de esta, promoviendo un espacio de expresi n, les otorga un lugar activo y define parte de sus derechos.

La raccolta e la distribuzione dell’acqua a Ventotene in età romana is presented in two parts. The first examines the topographical and technical problem of the water supply on the island of Ventotene, where there is an absence of natural springs. The second, consisting of separate entries, analyses the individual components of the water supply system built by the Romans on the island. The Roman installation developed in two phases alongside changes in life at the villa located at Ventotene: the first connected to a residence used for otium, the second to an official site of relegatio ad insulam. The Roman architect exploited the island’s natural slope to collect rainwater in a large initial reservoir, later known as the ‘Cistern of the Prisoners’, surmounted by a vast catchment basin: from here a conduit departed which, through various branches, reached the ‘heart’ of the villa extending over the promontory of Punta Eolo and the port facilities. The water was channelled from the cistern by an extensive network of tunnels, dug, depending on the height, either wholly or partially into the tufa or built on the surface. Even during the second phase, when the villa was turned into a large and elaborate residential complex used throughout the year, it could rely only on rainwater as a resource. The Roman architect was thus forced to increase the collection areas, attempting to capture as much water as possible. This was achieved by increasing the number of large initial collection tanks, dislocating them strategically around the island to ensure that each of the sectors with the highest residential density and main infrastructure installations had its own independent resource alongside the standard existing resources. The number of catchment basins also multiplied considerably along the route of the main conduit and its branches.

La expansi n de la agricultura, en la regi n pampeana, se bas en la difusi n del doble cultivo trigo/soja y en la soja como nico cultivo anual, en detrimento de las pasturas y el ma z, ello, junto a un balance de f sforo negativo hizo que las respuestas de los cultivos a este nutriente sean cada vez m s frecuentes, especialmente en trigo. La disminuci n de la fertilidad y las bajas dosis de f sforo aplicadas, requieren de pr cticas de manejo que maximicen su eficiencia de absorci n. Por ello, en esta obra se tratan los factores que afectan la disponibilidad de f sforo del suelo y del agregado como fertilizantes, durante el ciclo del cultivo de trigo, cuando se aplican distintas fuentes fosfatadas solubles, puras y/o en mezclas con urea. Se presenta evidencia fehaciente, de c mo el tipo y forma de aplicaci n de los fertilizantes fosfatados, afectan las formas de f sforo del suelo, su disponibilidad y eficiencia de absorci n. Se describe, detalladamente para cada tipo de aplicaci n la tasa de absorci n durante el ciclo del trigo, su partici n en los distintos rganos de la planta y su re-movilizaci n al grano.
