This book is a sequel to an earlier publication by Enoch Wan & Jon Raibley, Transformational Change in Christian Ministry (2022) which provided the theoretical framework for this book. While the focus of the earlier work is on "transformational change" generally, this one is on "transformational growth" specifically dealing with the practice of leadership, discipleship, and mentorship within intercultural context.
Relational Intercultural Communication for Relational Intercultural Education explores the intersection between communication and education from a Relational Interactive perspective. In this book we introduce: A communication cycle that looks at the interactions between the perceptions of hearer, the expressions of speaker, and the volition and thinking patterns of both.A developmental process that considers the role of relationship in bringing about transformative change.A practical theology that recognizes the active involvement of Triune God within human communication and education.
The oldest of the four gospels, Mark's Gospel, makes it crystal clear that Jesus Christ is the Healing Messiah of God, the redeemer of Israel and the world. Mark wastes no time making this fact known, pointing to the healing of a man in a synagogue with an unclean spirit as Jesus' first public ministry act. The casting out of the unclean spirit is significant in several ways. First, God makes good on the promise that the seed of woman (Jesus, the Messiah of God) would bruise the head of the serpent (Satan) for his diabolical role in deceiving Eve to disobey God's warning not to eat from the Tree of good and evil, which led to the Fall (Gen. 3). Second, Mark shows that Jesus' first public ministry action confronts Satan, exposing and overthrowing his evil work in the world by the power of his words. Third, Mark showed that the demon recognized Jesus as the Holy One of God. Fourth, the demon knew Jesus had come to destroy the works of Satan, revealing that their malicious activities and influence in the world would come to a destructive end. Fifth, this healing by exorcism looked back to the creation story of the Fall but also looked forward to the cross, witnessing the coming of God's kingdom reign and the restoration of the Fall of humanity and God's good creation.Mark further makes the point that Jesus fully understood that God would work through his twelve disciples and the disciples that would come after them, as God had worked through him, in carrying out his kingdom mission and ministry. The original twelve disciples were the beginning of the infant Christian church, the body of Christ. The Church of Christ would become a healing community to bring healing, wholeness, and salvation to this broken and sin-driven world. Jesus conferred God's power and authority upon the church to continue his redemptive kingdom work of teaching, preaching, and healing until his return.
Early on in my study, it became evident that Mark was not simply recounting the healing incidents that Jesus had performed. Mark looked at the healing miracles of Jesus through the lens of God's perspective. What was significant to Mark and what captured my spiritual imagination was his interpretation of the healing miracles. He made it clear to the readers that Jesus clearly understood the redemptive implications of his mission as the Jewish healer-redeemer. Jesus fully embraced his Messianic mission to bring salvation to the Hebrew people. He would become the perfect sacrificial lamb of God to bring about the restoration of fallen humanity. In and through him, God's good creation would be restored. Through Jesus' sacrificial death, God would create a new covenant of grace, which could be acceptable to both Jews and Gentiles. The healing miracles demonstrated the defeat of sin, sickness, death, and the evil influence of Satan's demonic forces. Jesus did this by not only removing our sins but also taking the consequences of our sins upon himself, nailing them to the cross. All of Jesus' healing miracles were interpreted similarly. I found Mark's gospel both inspiring and informative, allowing me to see the heart, love, compassion, and mind of God for His creation.

How does one forgive an international political transgression as deep as genocide or apartheid? Forgiveness is often conceived of as an element of personal morality, and even at that it is difficult. This book argues that it is also an essential part of political ethics, especially when dealing with collective wrongdoing by political regimes. In the past, a retributive justice demanding prosecution and punishment of all past offenses has kept the international community away from moving on to the next step in regime change. Here, Mark R. Amstutz takes a restorative justice approach, calling for nations to account for crimes through truth commissions, public apology and repentance, reparations, and ultimately forgiveness and the lifting of deserved penalties. The distinctive feature of forgiveness is the balance it strikes between backward-looking accountability and forward-looking reconciliation. The Healing of Nations combines a theory of the role of forgiveness in public life with four key case studies that test this ethic: Argentina, Chile, Northern Ireland, and South Africa. Amstutz uses the hard cases to illustrate the promise and limits of forgiving without forgetting.
