Questo lavoro tratta l'uso della farina di semi di ricino come concentrato proteico in sostituzione della farina di semi di soia per soddisfare le esigenze nutrizionali degli agnelli alimentati con un sistema di alimentazione strisciante al pascolo. La farina di ricino ha un alto valore proteico e un costo inferiore rispetto alla farina di soia, e pu essere utilizzata nei mangimi per ruminanti una volta detossificata. Questo progetto stato realizzato presso l'Universit Federale di Vi osa, sotto la guida della professoressa Cristina Mattos Veloso. This work deals with the use of castor bean meal as a protein concentrate to replace soybean meal in meeting the nutritional requirements of lambs fed in a creep-feeding system while grazing. Castor bean meal has a high protein value and a lower cost than soybean meal, and can be used in ruminant feed when detoxified. This project was carried out at the Federal University of Vi osa, under the supervision of Professor Cristina Mattos Veloso. The Federal University of Vi osa contributed to this project by providing its laboratories, experimental modules and staff; FAPEMIG, by granting us financial aid and providing us with the use of space, materials and equipment to carry out and analyze the project; and the CNPq funding agency.

To celebrate college graduation, a father takes his son on a memorable motorcycle trip from Georgia to Nova Scotia to ride The Cabot Trail. From the Preface: "Touring on two wheels is unlike other modes of travel. Riding a motorcycle is a smorgasbord for the senses. Upon a two-wheeled-memory-making machine, a motorcyclist becomes part of the landscape, instead of just a spectator with their nose pressed against the window watching the world go by. If it is cold, a motorcyclist is chilled. If it is raining, the rider feels damp; if flowers are blooming, riders are immersed in the aroma, and when the sun shines, we are warmed. The sound of the rushing wind and the pulse of the machine between our legs are part of the experience and the thrill. Motorcycle riders can feel the ebb and flow of a road as it follows the contours of a rugged coastline, or dips and swerves through a mountainous forest. Accretion disks are ubiquitous in our universe, and produce intense brightening. How does the gas in the disk lose its angular momentum to release massive amounts of gravitational energy? This is one of the biggest open questions in astronomy. This book studies four types of newly detected outbursts in dwarf novae through optical observations and/or numerical simulations and puts forward physical interpretations of these outbursts on the basis of the disk instability model, the most plausible model for dwarf-nova outbursts. It demonstrates that the disk-instability model can explain rich variety in dwarf-nova outbursts if some new aspects are taken into account (e.g. the extremely slow growth of tidal instability and thermal instability in the disk misaligned against the binary orbital plane). Moreover, it shares valuable insights on the evolution of binary systems by finding period bouncers and dwarf novae with F-type companion stars, which are rare objects.

Devices that convert explosive energy into electromagnetic energy are often called Flux Compression Generators (FCGs) in the United States, whereas the term Magnetocumulative Generators (MCGs) is more com­ monly used in Russia. Since the Russian literature is accessed more heavily in this book, the latter term is used here. In any event, the basic process involves using explosives to force an initial magnetic flux into a region of smaller inductance in such a manner that loss of flux is minimized. In the event that no flux is lost, the magnetic energy associated with the flux, inversely proportional to the inductance, must increase. Flux loss is min­ imized by confining it with good conductors which, in turn, are driven rapidly by the explosive to reduce the system inductance. The magnetic energy is increased by the work the conductors do as they are forcibly moved against the magnetic field, the energy, in turn, being supplied by the explosive driving them. As the reader may infer, there are different kinds of generators, some of which might be difficult to recognize as MCGs. Nonetheless, they all possess the features outlined above. Explosives have some unique features as energy sources. They have very high available energy densities; they release energy rapidly, or at high power; they can develop very high pressures.
