"A daring and compulsively page-turning historical what-if fiction...A remarkably realistic alternative world story...Unapologetically opinionated, challenging, and thought provoking." -Publishers Weekly "I am simply blown away by the imagination and scholarship that has gone into Mitchell Freedman's fabulous novel, A Disturbance of Fate. Incredibly, Freedman pulls off this historical fantasy and tells a truly fascinating, though very controversial, tale." -Dan E. Moldea, author of The Killing of Robert F. Kennedy "A Disturbance of Fate is fun and imaginative. It presents a fascinating extrapolation from what we know about our history and reaffirms the importance of Robert F. Kennedy's legacy and vision." -Peter Edelman, author of Searching for America's Heart: RFK and the Renewal of Hope, and legislative assistant to Senator Robert F. Kennedy "A Disturbance of Fate is a powerful and creative work of social realism." -Dr. Kevin Starr, State Librarian of California and award-winning author of the series, Americans and The California Dream "Whether you agree with Mitch Freedman's political views or not, his book is an exciting and imaginative exercise in what could have been."-The late Alan W. Bock, senior editorial writer, Orange County Register and author of Waiting to Inhale: The Politics of Medical Marijuana Enter a history where Robert F. Kennedy was never killed, and where he went on to win the Presidency of the United States of America. Contrary to what some may believe, the time in which RFK survives is not tidy and perfect; it is not the utopia that many of his supporters have come to believe over the years. As in life, this daring alternate history twists and turns at the surprises and ironies along the way. Drawing from political, economic, and cultural trends to paint a realistic vision of what might have been, A Disturbance of Fate is guaranteed to leave you thinking about the fluidity of history. "[Freedman's] is a bold ...look at a vital era, when many roads seemed possible." -Los Angeles Times Magazine "A Disturbance of Fate is more than a 'disturbance.' The book weaves a tale that transcends the end of an era...The portrayal of Robert Kennedy is at once, painful, yet undeniably picturesque."-The late Paul Conrad, three-time Pulitzer Prize winning political cartoonist for the Los Angeles Times "Mitchell Freedman's A Disturbance of Fate is a novel of marvels: offering readers a gripping political narrative, vividly realized in every detail, Freedman invites us to imagine an alternate universe whose origins lie in the epochal year of 1968 and whose fate is as strange and surprising as history itself." -Michael Berube, president-elect, Modern Language Association; Joseph Paterno Professor of Literature and Cultural Studies, Penn State University, and author of Higher Education Under Fire: Politics, Economics and the Crisis of the Humanities "...(A) radically different...(and) ambitious view of what would have happened had Robert Kennedy lived...It deals with...every domestic and foreign issue, and twenty-plus years of alternate American history following Robert Kennedy's election in 1968." -Jeff Greenfield, author of Then Everything Changed: Stunning Alternate Histories of American Politics: JFK, RFK, Carter, Ford, Reagan and distinguished political reporter for CBS News Mitchell J.Freedman has history and political science degrees from Rutgers University and a law degree from California Western School of Law. He has been published in newspapers and journals on historical, political, and constitutional issues. He lives with his wife and two children in Southern California.

By the spring of 2018, Angus MacTavish had flunked out of Glasgow Caledonian University. Deciding to move to America, he ended up in Flint, Michigan, a city he heard of that had a water crisis around four years earlier. Flint seemed like a place Angus was meant to be in; poor, broken, and in need of some TLC.Finding work as an apprentice mechanic, Angus was offered the opportunity by a co-worker to participate in a complex scheme to deceitfully obtain the tool shop where they worked. Angus felt that his acquaintance's plan would fail. But for lack of maturity or the need to be accepted, Angus agreed to go along with him. Angus had gone into debt to Sandy Thompson, a professional criminal in Scotland, to get the documents needed to pull off their fraudulent scheme. When they attempted to carry out their coup the two amateur conmen were immediately sacked. Thompson used Angus' debt to force him into a complex international money laundering venture. Angus, needing to rid himself of Thompson's hold, met with his co-conspirator to discuss repaying their debt, but his accomplice rebuffed him, so Angus killed him. After confessing his problems to his fianc e, she offered to help Angus get rid of Thompson's grip on him. She recruited a New York Times reporter to write Angus' story with the hopes of surviving the consequences. In the end it was Angus' attempted murder of one of Thompson's lackeys that ended Angus MacTavish's saga.

In 1977, Hagit's mother, Makeda, at 17, made Aliyah with her family to Kiryat Malachi (City of Angels) from Ethiopia, where she met Hagit's father, Adam Rosenbloom. In 1983, Adam and Makeda were married and left Israel for another City of Angels, Los Angeles; Hagit was born in 1985. Hagit grew up with majestic beauty and coal black skin inherited from her Ethiopian mother; she never hesitated being identified as a Black woman of Jewish descent. It was on Savannah, Georgia's city council that Sol Mehleck, met this remarkable woman. With her Queen of Sheba beauty and matching intellect, he knew in an instant this woman was going to change the world forever. Sol and his wife, Roz, became confidants of Hagit working for her for nearly twenty years after her elections from Alderman up to President. However, they noticed that Hagit appeared different after her annual visits home. They eventually realized that what they observed was not normal, and that nothing in nature behaved that way. Roz became frightened, so Sol suggested that they ask Hagit's parents about their observations. From them, they learned the truth about Hagit's remarkable beginnings, and how the world would, indeed, be changed forever.
The Ho-Ho-Holiest Medicine: Exploring the Power of Divine Laughter
Voltaire said, "God is a comedian playing to an audience too afraid to laugh". The Divine Laughter described in this book is a way to laugh along with God's jokes. This Divine Laughter is based on the intersection of the teachings of geniuses, Nobel Laureates, spirituality, and the core principles of the great religions. It is the type of laughter that helps us see our chaotic world in a more light-hearted yet empowered way. It is a way to help us laugh our way out of "The Matrix." As you may have found by now, we can't think our way out of The Matrix because our mind has a vested interest in keeping itself alive. But once we fully understand and laugh at the Divine Comedy of our own creation, we free ourselves from the thoughts that kept The Matrix alive. As you will see, instead of trying to think our way out, laughing at the thoughts binding us to The Matrix is a much more fun and effective way out. This book is your prescription for using Divine Laughter as your Ho-Ho-Holiest Medicine and exploring our Divine Comedy. It can help you laugh your way out of The Matrix and live a happier and healthier life.

How does a psychiatrist cope with trauma when a failed marriage results in severe depression and anxiety? It's not often that the emotional experience of mental health professionals, who-like their patients-are fighting to find answers for their own healing and wholeness, can be explored. It can be hard to accept that sometimes even therapists, need therapy. This book explores what it's like to have the tools to build a stable structure, but all that still develops is a broken house. After counseling college students and treating thousands of patients in psychiatry, the authors (a husband-and-wife team) found that their marital counseling ministry was more successful when empathetic transparency about their own mistakes and failures was given. Instead of using hammers, drills, screws, and nails, this couple had to learn to use techniques that tear down walls and expose the true condition of a damaged relationship. Embark on a journey with the "Chip and Joanna of marital counseling" as they reveal how a dilapidated house in foreclosure helped them start the renovation process on a marriage that was broken, and in disrepair. If you're in a relationship that feels hopeless and are wondering if a seemingly bad investment has any real value, you'll discover valuable lessons in this amazing story.

A unified presentation of environmental model development, implementation, and testing Integrated Environmental Modeling teaches model development, model implementation, and model testing skills in a unified manner, crosscutting the three "media" comprising environmental systems--air, water, and soil--by focusing on parallels and similarities between them, and introducing a new generation of multimedia models. No other single volume offers comprehensive coverage of chemical transport and fate in all three environmental media, including the resulting impacts on the biosphere and human health, with a focus on the fundamental processes underlying environmental modeling. Integrated Environmental Modeling provides broad-based training in the development of pollutant transport and fate models in air, water, and soil, with a focus on five essential competencies: * Understanding the fundamental process principles that govern contaminant transport and transformations in multimedia environments, emphasizing the parallels and links between different media * Learning model development skills, starting from the simplest conceptual models and building more complex and realistic models that couple component process modules at the appropriate spatial and temporal scales of resolution * Using statistical methods and data sources to estimate input parameters and characterize model sensitivity and uncertainty * Gaining hands-on experience with computer-aided implementation and evaluation of fate and transport models using realistic case study examples * Applying fate and transport models to evaluate pollutant interactions with the biosphere, particularly in human exposure modeling and health risk assessment Complete with case studies, Integrated Environmental Modeling is a valuable, single-source tool for senior and graduate students in environmental science and engineering courses on pollutant transport, remediation, and risk assessment, and an essential reference text for professionals in industry, consulting, and government agencies responsible for environmental assessment and risk analysis.

The education sector will be key to the continued success of the UK economy, but will need to adapt to significant changes in its demographic mix coupled with higher social expectations. The opportunity to both learn and employ new skills will need to extend to embrace all sectors and ages of society. The ability to problem-solve and adapt to new situations will become highly prized; the ability to teach this to future generations even more so.
