A rock-and-roll infused Haggadah that brings the intertwined history of Judaism and music to your Seder table.Passover is one of the most celebrated Jewish holidays. Families all over the world gather around the dining table to recite the story of the Exodus from Egypt, honor the freedom of the Jewish people, and look toward the future. The Rock ‘N’ Roll Haggadah shares the traditional biblical stories and rituals of a standard Haggadah, but it also includes a rich tapestry of anecdotes that speak to the influence of Judaism on artists and their music, and its culinary, historical, and anthropological impact. Throughout the book, which features English, Hebrew, and transliterations, you’ll find vibrant illustrations and little-known rock and roll references that lightheartedly tie into the narratives of the “Ten Plagues,” “Forty Years in the Desert,” “Elijah’s Cup,” and more. It also includes fun DIY projects such as making a rock-and-roll Egyptian centerpiece and a record album Seder plate, as well as suggestions for a Passover playlist that will enhance any Seder. Whether you’re hosting or attending a Seder, the book’s wide range of musicians and songs will spark conversations among all generations at the table and provide a fantastic soundtrack for any Passover celebration.

As a former stripper, Carla "Rae" Hepburn once turned peeling her clothes off into an art form. Now manager of an exotic dance club, she has become the ultimate hostess, adopting some of the same tantalizing attire and mannerisms, she employed on the dance pole. She embraces her job and defiantly makes no apologies for it.But when she becomes trapped in a burning nightclub, a handsome fire captain, Baxter Rose, saves her in a gallant rescue and turns her life topsy-turvy. Though Carla spells danger and turbulence, Baxter is drawn to her like a magnet. Their passion far outweighs caution as they embark on an erotic roller-coaster romance.Carla now confronts the choice of walking away from a thrill-seeking lifestyle or possibly losing the one man who fulfills her dreams and desires. As Carla's torrid romance with Baxter heats up, she is not only forced to make life-altering decisions, but she must also topple the reign of a drug-dealing arsonist who seeks to destroy her and the young, drug-addicted dancer she mentors.

Praise for the first edition:'Accomplishes its task to provide readers with a broad multi-disciplinary view on globalization's many impacts on Latin America ... the organization of the collection is logical and thoughtful, and the structural perspectives offered are convincing and powerful. I recommend it to other Latin American social scientists.' Growth and Change 'An impressive, timely and lively volume, which is especially valuable for teaching purposes.' Journal of Latin American Studies'Authoritatively written by leading scholars in their respective fields.' AreaLatin America Transformed, 2nd Edition explains the region's economic, political, social and cultural transformations, its association with globalization and the search for modernity, and contributes to a greater understanding of how these transformations are affecting the people of Latin America.Using a political economy approach to unravel the concepts of globalization and modernity within Latin America, emphasis is placed on interpreting the macro-level structures that frame the transformations taking place. The book also investigates the dynamics of people's livelihoods as they make sense of, rework and live out these structural transformations. The international team of authors involved with the successful first edition have updated their focus and substantially rewritten their material to examine the challenges facing Latin America in the twenty-first century. Three completely new chapters have also been added. Latin America Transformed, 2nd Edition is now even more useful for undergraduate and postgraduate courses that examine economic, political, social and cultural change in Latin America.
