Cet ouvrage explore deux romans de Peter Ackroyd, Hawksmoor et The House of Doctor Dee, sous l'angle de leur propension l'irrationnel, et vise identifier les points communs entre trois courants litt raires dans la construction de l'irrationalit la tradition gothique, la litt rature visionnaire romantique et le postmodernisme.
