Pëtr Il’ich Tchaikovsky: A Research and Information Guide is an annotated bibliography of substantial, relevant published resources relating to the Russian composer. Generally regarded as one of the most remarkable composers of the second half of the nineteenth century, Tchaikovsky is unique in that he was the first outstanding Russian composer to receive a professional musical education, being one of the first students to graduate from the newly opened St. Petersburg Conservatory. Composer of six symphonies, concertos, orchestral works, eight major operas, three ballets, and many chamber, keyboard and vocal works, he also composed important sacred music, which is currently being reassessed by contemporary Russian musicologists who are able to examine materials previously restricted or inaccessible during the Soviet period. Like his colleagues in St. Petersburg, Tchaikovsky was deeply interested in Russian folk song, which plays an important part in his works. This volume evaluates the major studies written about the composer, incorporating new information that has appeared in literary publications, articles and reviews.

Petr Ginz was a Czech 'Mischling' who was sent to Theresienstadt work camp in 1942, aged 13. Two years later he was sent to his death in Auschwitz. His recently-discovered diaries make for mesmerizing and poignant reading. In 1941, Petr Ginz was a young teenager living in Prague with his parents and sister. Adventurous, artistic and optimistic, he wrote poems and novels and edited a children's magazine inside the work camp at Theresienstadt. Originally written in his special code-language, Petr's diaries described daily life for the Ginz family and documented the introduction of anti-Jewish laws from a young adult's point of view - pithy and unsentimental. The writing stopped in 1942 when Petr received his summons, but the books survived in a Prague attic. They recently came to light in extraordinary circumstances and, they were published in the CzechRepublic in 2005 to a storm of publicity. Edited by his sister, Chava, and including background material and beautiful reproductions of Petr's artwork, this book encapsulates the soul and wisdom of a child caught in an adults' war.

This volume celebrates the work of Petr Hájek on mathematical fuzzy logic and presents how his efforts have influenced prominent logicians who are continuing his work. The book opens with a discussion on Hájek's contribution to mathematical fuzzy logic and with a scientific biography of him, progresses to include two articles with a foundation flavour, that demonstrate some important aspects of Hájek's production, namely, a paper on the development of fuzzy sets and another paper on some fuzzy versions of set theory and arithmetic.Articles in the volume also focus on the treatment of vagueness, building connections between Hájek's favorite fuzzy logic and linguistic models of vagueness. Other articles introduce alternative notions of consequence relation, namely, the preservation of truth degrees, which is discussed in a general context, and the differential semantics. For the latter, a surprisingly strong standard completeness theorem is proved. Another contribution also looks at two principles valid in classical logic and characterize the three main t-norm logics in terms of these principles. Other articles, with an algebraic flavour, offer a summary of the applications of lattice ordered-groups to many-valued logic and to quantum logic, as well as an investigation of prelinearity in varieties of pointed lattice ordered algebras that satisfy a weak form of distributivity and have a very weak implication. The last part of the volume contains an article on possibilistic modal logics defined over MTL chains, a topic that Hájek discussed in his celebrated work, Metamathematics of Fuzzy Logic, and another one where the authors, besides offering unexpected premises such as proposing to call Hájek's basic fuzzy logic HL, instead of BL, propose a very weak system, called SL as a candidate for the role of the really basic fuzzy logic. The paper also provides a generalization of the prelinearity axiom, which was investigatedby Hájek in the context of fuzzy logic.

Pervaja mirovaja vojna stala pervoj vojnoj, gde boi shli ne tolko na zemle, no i v nebe. Russkie ljotchiki geroicheski srazhalis, sovershaja chudesa muzhestva i geroizma. O vozdushnom boe, v kotorom russkij aviator Pjotr Nesterov vpervye v istorii aviatsii unichtozhil vraga taranom,- etot rasskaz.
"Petr Pervyj" - ne prosto roman, eto dolgaja, mnogo raz pereosmyslennaja i auknuvshajasja tema v sobstvennoj zhizni Alekseja Tolstogo (1882-1945). Kak tsar Petr byl okhvachen stroitelstvom novoj Rossii, tak i A. N. Tolstoj videl sebja u nachal novogo gosudarstva XX veka. Strana menjalas na glazakh pisatelja: on vernulsja iz emigratsii esche pri Lenine i Trotskom i stal svidetelem bystrogo i zhestokogo ideologicheskogo sloma. No dvigalo pisatelskim zamyslom vovse ne stremlenie upodobit dvukh vlastitelej - tsarja i generalnogo sekretarja. Tolstoj byl zavorozhen otkryvshejsja emu dalekoj epokhoj, uvidennoj im cherez podlinnyj jazyk vremeni. Etot jazyk okazalsja stol zhivym i jasnym, chto proshloe vnezapno priblizilos i stalo pochti segodnjashnim. Sudby vymyshlennykh geroev romana, perepletennye s biografijami podlinnykh istoricheskikh figur, pozvolili Tolstomu sozdat u chitatelja illjuziju prisutstvija pri dramaticheskikh sobytijakh, a samomu pisatelju pomogli podmeshat v tolschu istorii svoi sobstvennye goresti i radosti.Soprovoditelnaja statja Ivana TolstogoIvan Nikitich Tolstoj (rod. 1958) - vnuk A. N. Tolstogo i M. L. Lozinskogo. Vypusknik filfaka LGU. Istorik literatury i esseist. Redaktor istoriko-kulturnykh programm na "Radio Svoboda". Stsenarist i veduschij tsikla "Istoricheskie puteshestvija Ivana Tolstogo" na telekanale "Kultura". Avtor shesti knig, v chisle kotorykh "Otmytyj roman Pasternaka: "Doktor Zhivago" mezhdu KGB i TSRU" i "Bedlam kak Vifleem: Besedy ljubitelej russkogo slova".
Knjaz Petr Alekseevich Kropotkin v polnoj mere vladel iskusstvom ostavatsja soboj, zhit po sobstvennym ubezhdenijam i, esli nado, plyt protiv techenija. Pri vsej tselostnosti ego natury v lichnosti Kropotkina sovmeschalos vse samoe nesovmestimoe. Chinovnik osobykh poruchenij, podajuschij nadezhdy administrator, talantlivyj voennyj razvedchik, on otkazalsja ot gosudarstvennoj karery, pervonachalno - radi nauki. Filosof, pisatel-memuarist i zhurnalist, geograf, geolog, biolog-estestvoispytatel, ekonomist, etnograf, sotsiolog, istorik, literaturoved - eto vse on, Kropotkin, pochti chto vtoroj Lomonosov. Odnako podlinnoj ego sudboj stali revoljutsionnaja agitatsija, aresty i tjurmy, znamenityj pobeg i desjatiletija zhizni v emigratsii. On stal vragom ne tolko russkogo samoderzhavija, no i "demokraticheskikh" pravitelej Evropy, odnim iz podlinnykh liderov mirovogo anarkhizma i veduschim teoretikom anarkhistskogo kommunizma, myslitelem, kotorogo mozhno schitat predtechej teorii postindustrialnogo obschestva.
Sergej Mikhajlovich Solovev (1820-1879) - vydajuschijsja russkij istorik; professor Moskovskogo universiteta, akademik Imperatorskoj Sankt-Peterburgskoj Akademii. Odnako, buduchi professionalnym istorikom, Solovev opisal i otritsatelnye cherty v kharaktere Petra, v pervuju ochered, podozritelnost i zhestokost. Uchenyj objasnil ikh tjazheloj obstanovkoj, v kotoroj vyros buduschij imperator, stavshij v detskom vozraste svidetelem krovavogo streletskogo bunta i besposchadnoj borby za vlast. Kniga dopolnena rasskazami S.M. Soloveva o "ptentsakh gnezda Petrova", a takzhe o primechatelnykh epizodakh pravlenija Petra.
Na stranitsakh romana A. N. Tolstogo ozhivaet epokha pravlenija Petra Velikogo. V osnove sjuzheta realnye istoricheskie sobytija - ot smerti tsarja Fjodora Alekseevicha do vzjatija russkimi vojskami Narvy - vystradannoj narodom pobedy i kulminatsii romana; Azovskie pokhody, Streletskij bunt. Grandioznye peremeny v strane lomajut i menjajut sudby samykh raznykh ljudej. Istorija zhiznej istoricheskikh lichnostej, takikh kak tsarevna Sofja, Menshikov, Vasilij Golitsyn i mnogikh drugikh, vpletena v sjuzhet povestvovanija. Jarko, koloritno pokazany v romane i prostye ljudi, okazavshiesja uchastnikami istoricheskikh preobrazovanij v Rossii. Imenno oni vyskazyvajut narodnoe mnenie o politike tsarja, ego reformakh. No tsentralnaja figura, po mneniju samogo avtora, - figura Petra. Roman napisan tak uvlekatelno, dostoverno, chto chitaetsja na odnom dykhanii.
