Den här boken vänder sig till lärare som undervisar vuxna i Svenska för invandrare (SFI), men övningarna går också bra att använda i undervisning för ungdomar som nyligen kommit till Sverige. Många av övningarna har sitt ursprung i boken Att lära in svenska ute, där de prövats och använts under många år, men i den här boken har de anpassats till vuxna elever som lär sig svenska som andraspråk. Dessutom har flera nya övningar tagits fram för denna bok. Övningarna i boken är anpassade till kursplanen för kommunal vuxenutbildning i svenska för invandrare. Det mest centrala i läroplanen är att eleven ska utveckla sin kommunikativa förmåga. Vår beprövade erfarenhet som utomhuspedagoger visar att rummet utanför det traditionella klassrummet är mycket effektivt för att utveckla kommunikativ förmåga. Det rummet kan vara skogen, parken, gatan, muséet, butiken eller någon annan plats som erbjuder en konkret och autentisk kontext.
