WARNING: Some readers may find the subject matter of this book disturbing. Jenny is a young woman filled with the energy of youth, who is suddenly diagnosed with cancer. When the line between pain-relief and euthanasia becomes blurred, who should choose? In this compelling story, the author has clearly combined tragedy with suspense. Sue Joslin raises many serious issues in this enthralling book, which will undoubtedly open fresh debate about an issue that confronts all too many real people in the real world.

I found a way to pass on some pictures in a "brag book" for our family members. We hope you enjoy some of our pictures and hope you might do the same for your family members.

Mike Joslin throws a powerful 'hat' into the ring in a philosophical and scientific challenge to existing beliefs on the nature of the Universe. He suggests that the scientific community has been struggling in a 'straitjacket' of its own making, by persisting in the belief that the Universe is expanding, again tangible evidence that it isn't.

Emily Taylor, a young headmistress from Yorkshire, first sails aboard the RMS ‘Lusitania’ in 1910 whilst travelling to attend a family wedding on Long Island in America. During that first voyage, she makes a number of acquaintances, all with secrets in their pasts: Amelia Davenport, a flamboyant elderly widow with a salacious history, who is emigrating to America with her son and his family; Sam Jackson, a tough New York Police Inspector, driven by a personal vendetta; Christian Verholt, the heir to a wealthy banking dynasty whose double life includes a mysterious partner; and Niall Branigan, the charming Irish doctor whose twinkling emerald eyes mask hidden family secrets. But as the threat of the First World War looms, it is not only Emily’s life that changes dramatically as a consequence of these encounters, but also the lives of those close to her back in England.

Jane Addams, a Writer's Life is an expansive, revealing, and refreshing reexamination of the renowned reformer as an imaginative writer. Jane Addams is best known for her groundbreaking social work at Hull-House, the force of her efforts toward Progressive political and social reform, and the bravery of her commitment to pacifism, for which she received the Nobel Peace Prize. Katherine Joslin moves beyond this history to present Addams as a literary figure, one whose writing employed a synthesis of fictional and analytical prose that appealed to a wide audience.Joslin traces Addams's style from her early works, Philanthropy and Social Progress and her contributions to Hull House Maps and Papers, influenced by Florence Kelley, to her modernist and experimental last books, The Second Twenty Years at Hull-House and My Friend, Julia Lathrop, placing Addams in the context of other Chicago writers including Theodore Dreiser, Upton Sinclair, Harriet Monroe, Frank Norris and James T. Farrell. Joslin's close readings showcase Addams's distinguishing literary devices, such as using stories about people rather than sociological argument to make moral points. As Joslin pursues the argument that Addams's power as a public figure stemmed from the success of her books and essays, Addams herself emerges as a literary woman.

Stories for Learning Useful Business Idioms One of the final steps in mastering American English is becoming comfortable with the informal, everyday, sometimes humorous English expressions not usually taught in textbooks. Non-native speakers in the business world are especially challenged when understanding an idiom is critical to understanding the underlying message of a conversation or presentation. Misunderstanding an idiom can lead to confusion or even embarrassment. Dictionaries of idioms fill shelves and online searches, but an alphabetized list of idioms and definitions does not easily enable users to really comprehend its usage because those listed idioms are not explained in the context of any conversation. A better way to remember and become proficient with idioms is to learn them within the cultural context from which they originated. Touch All the Bases, as well as other books in the Stories for Learning Useful Business Idioms series, not only give precise definitions of the idioms, but embed the idioms within the context of the business-oriented story, so readers will quickly internalize and recall them during critical meetings and conversations.
Agriculture in the GATT

Trade in temperate zone farm products between the developed countries has been beset with problems since the GATT's inception in 1947. The basic problem was always that the conditions in world agricultural markets were distorted by the national agricultural policies followed by all developed countries - policies which national authorities were reluctant to adapt to conform with the requirements of a liberal international trading system for agricultural products. This book describes and analyses the attempts that were made to make trade in agriculture less distorted, more stable and predictable, and less of a dangerous source of political friction between nations, in successive rounds of negotiations under the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade in the 45-year period from GATT's inception in 1947 to the end of the Uruguay Round in 1993. While the book analyses the development of international trade policy throughout the post-war period, particular attention is given to the Kennedy, Tokyo and Uruguay Rounds of GATT negotiations in which the problems of trade in agricultural products were confronted.
