The final book in the highly acclaimed, multi-award-winning KINGDOM OF SILK series is a heart-warming story about the power of love and family. Ages: 7+ two of Perry Angel's favourite people are Grandma Nell and his good friend Jenkins. One night, while listening to Nell play the beautiful tennessee Waltz, Perry thinks of the perfect way to bring his two favourite people together: he wants to put on a dance - a proper one with petticoats and posies and a real band. Perry shares his idea with his sisters, and before long the dance turns into a wonderful winter festival. But when something happens to Nell, will Perry's wish come true? Glenda Millard has won many prestigious awards for her Kingdom of Silk series, including CBCA Book of the Year for Younger Readers for Perry Angel's Suitcase, and the Queensland Premier's Children's Book Award for Layla, Queen of Hearts. Now this stunning series about the very 'uncommon' Silk family has its glorious finale in Nell's Festival of Crisp Winter Glories.
Germany: A Winter's Tale: Deutschland: Ein Wintermärchen
In 1835, the German principalities and cities banned the works of German-Jewish poet Heinrich Heine. The censors banned not only the works Heine had already published, but also prohibited, in advance, any work the writer might produce in the future. When Heine sneaked across the border from his Paris exile in 1843, the result was the poem-cycle Deutschland: Ein Winterm rchen (Germany: A Winter's Tale). The Hamburg publisher Julius Campe published this book, and kept all of Heine's work available "under the counter," so that the banned poet was read even more widely than ever. Heine's satires against German arrogance and militarism would continue in the 1840s, when the poet and Karl Marx worked together on the revolutionary newspaper Vorw rts. Heine's books would be banned again by the Nazis, who made a point of burning his books, and erasing his name from published song lyrics. Even the most famous of all German Lieder, "The Lorelei," was now said to have lyrics by "Author Unknown." Jacob Rabinowitz's adaptation of the 27-poem cycle renders Heine's verses into rapid-fire lines, almost as though Lenny Bruce were channeling his 19th century forebear. And instead of peppering the text with explanatory footnotes on the context of German culture and history in the poems, Rabinowitz incorporates helpful elucidations into the flow of the poems. For those who want to read the original German for themselves, this edition includes the complete 1844 German text on facing pages.

Cauchy's Problem for Hyperbolic Equations: Winter and Spring Quarters, 1957, University of Chicago
The book ""Cauchy's Problem For Hyperbolic Equations: Winter And Spring Quarters, 1957, University Of Chicago"" by Lars Garding is a comprehensive guide to the study of hyperbolic equations and their solutions. The book is based on lectures given by Garding at the University of Chicago during the winter and spring quarters of 1957.The book begins with an introduction to hyperbolic equations and their properties. It then goes on to discuss the Cauchy problem for hyperbolic equations, which involves finding a solution to the equation that satisfies certain initial conditions. The book covers various methods for solving the Cauchy problem, including the method of characteristics, the Fourier transform method, and the Laplace transform method.Throughout the book, Garding provides numerous examples and exercises to help readers understand the concepts and techniques presented. He also includes a detailed bibliography for further reading and research.Overall, ""Cauchy's Problem For Hyperbolic Equations"" is an essential resource for anyone studying hyperbolic equations and their applications in mathematics and physics. It is written in a clear and concise style, making it accessible to both students and researchers in the field.Investigations In The Theory Of Partial Differential Equations, Technical Report, No. 2.
