Simo Häyhä (1905-2002) on maailman tunnetuin tarkka-ampuja. Hän on toiminnallaan viitoittanut myöhempien tarkka-ampujapolvien tien ja pitää edelleen hallussaan tarkka-ampujien maailmantilaston kiistatonta kärkipaikkaa. Talvisodassa Kollaalla Simo teki oman merkittävän osansa rintamalinjan lujittamiseksi eliminoidessaan yli viisisataa vihollista. Hänet palkittiin lukuisin eri tavoin. Tämän teoksen tekijä, Puolustusvoimissa pitkään tarkka-ampujakoulutuksen parissa työskennellyt Tapio Saarelainen, pääsi haastattelemaan Simoa lukuisia kertoja tarkoituksenaan selvittää, mikä oli hänen menestyksensä salaisuus tarkka-ampujana. Tekijän ja Simon välille muodostui vuosien saatossa ystävyyssuhde, joka mahdollisti uuden ja tuoreen näkökulman löytämisen henkilöön talvisodan legendan takana. Teoksessa tuodaan esille myös Suojeluskuntatoimintaa. Tämän toiminnan tulokset ase- ja ampumakoulutuksen saralla vaikuttivat merkittävästi käymiemme puolustussotien lopputuloksiin. Teoksessa keskitytään erityisesti Kollaa ja Simo Häyhä -museon esi-neistöön kertomusten kautta. Tarkka-ammunnalla on sijansa myös huomispäivän mekanisoituvissa, huippuunsa viritetyissä teknologisissa armeijoissa. Laaki ja vainaa on mottona edelleenkin. Siihen on pyrittävä nyt ja tulevaisuudessa. Kirjassa on käsitelty myös tarkka-ampujan suorituskykyvaatimuksia ja toimintaa taistelukentällä.

Oikean kristillisen kirkon jatkuvuus Suomessa. Tähän valtavaan teemaan voidaan tiivistää TL Simo Kivirannan (1936-2004) merkittävä elämäntyö. Hänen kutsumuksenaan pastorina ja opettajana oli väsymättä jakaa Pyhän Raamatun, vanhan kirkon ja luterilaisen uskonpuhdistuksen kalliita uskonaarteita eteenpäin. Teologina, tunnustajana, julistajana ja sielunhoitajana Simo antoi suuret lahjansa ja tietämyksensä kristillisen kirkon rakennustyöhön. Totuudellisesti ja tinkimättömästi, mutta samalla avarakatseisesti ja herrasmiesmäisesti Simo toimitti niitä palvelutehtäviä, joita hänelle Suomen ev. lut. kirkossa, Helsingin yliopistossa ja monissa hertätysliikejärjestöissä uskottiin. Erityisen lähellä Simoa olivat teologian opiskelijat, joille hänellä vaikeasta sairaudestaan huolimatta oli aina aikaa ja kiinnostusta. Tähän kirjaan on koottu Simon elämäkerrallisia välähdyksiä. Kirja perustuu Simon kummityttö Helena Simonsin tekemiin nauhoitettuihin haastatteluihin. Tämä projekti jäi kesken, mutta paljon saatiin kuitenkin Simon rikkaasta elämästä talletettua. Katkelmia vie lukijan jännittävälle ja ainutlaatuiselle matkalle sotien jälkeiselle kirkolliselle kentälle Suomessa ja ulkomailla.

During the Winter War fought between Russia and Finland in 1939 – 1940 he had 542 confirmed kills with iron sights, a record that still stands today. He has been a role model for snipers all over the world and paved the way for them by demonstrating their significance on the battlefield.Simo Häyhä was a man of action who spoke very little, but he was hugely respected by his men and his superiors and given many difficult missions, including taking out specific targets. Able to move silently and swiftly through the landscape, melting into the snowbound surroundings in his white camouflage fatigues, his aim was deadly and his quarry rarely escaped. The Russians learned of his reputation as a marksman and tried several times to kill him by indirect fire. He was promoted from corporal to second lieutenant and he was awarded the Cross of Kollaa. For sniping Simo Häyhä only ever used his own m/28-30 rifle. Eventually his luck ran out and Simo received a serious head wound on March 6, 1940, though he subsequently recovered.After the war Simo Häyhä lead a quiet, unassuming life in farming and forestry. His roots were deep in the Finnish soil and he loved life in rural Finland. Simo Knuuttila was an influential philosopher, theologian, and historian of philosophy who conducted research on a variety of topics including modalities, emotions, perception, and change in different historical periods, from Ancient to Modern. His contribution to the study of modalities and emotions was groundbreaking and trendsetting with a lasting impact on the area.
