This textbook is based on an academic monograph entitled Intercultural dialogue in practice: Managing value judgment in foreign language education. (Houghton, 2012) that resulted from a PhD thesis supervised by Michael Byram at Durham University. It contains a series of selected extracts relevant to the exploration of intercultural dialogue through children's literature. The extracts are accompanied by a children's story entitled Lossie Leppur and the Quing which was also written by the author to explore issues related to intercultural dialogue, which was published independently in 2015, with full colour illustrations by Barbara Dessi and graphic design by Kate Austria. Together, they form a useful resource book upon which teachers can creatively draw through independent syllabus design and task development. Houghton, S.A. This intercultural communication textbook challenges students to explore and visualize intercultural communication in an ageing society by conducting and reporting on a small-scale research project. Students will explore various academic concepts and theories related to intercultural communication and link them to social trends related to increased life expectancy, shifting lifestyles patterns across life stages, the impact of artificial intelligence on the workplace and physical health and fitness among other things.I would like to thank my mother, Isabelle Llewellyn, for permitting me to use one of her paintings on the front cover of this book. At the time of painting, it represented a childhood memory. Here, it represents the need to embrace new life stages with enthusiasm at any stage of life.

"Disruption" is a buzzword for many economists and businesses, but how do we ethically disrupt the way we do business and economics in order to lift people up? This book offers resources from a conversation between Catholic social thought and design thinking in response to the question. Drawing from the understanding of structures of sin and structures of grace in Catholic social thought and the concepts of design thinking, this book offers principles to consider in trying to disrupt our business and economic systems toward becoming more like structures of grace.

Selflessly Shattered is a young woman's poetic tale of the entanglements she experienced from adolescents into adulthood. These relationships full of toxicity were the result of chasing the love she learned from childhood. The author captures what many of us have experienced in an unfiltered honesty of pain and growth through healing. Selflessly Shattered is a poetic tale written by a woman for women but she also speaks to men who inspired this book and to any man who can relate. This book hopes to challenge the traditional views of the classic good girl, bad boy story. To more fully express herself and her creativity the author incorporates photography within the story.

The term intercultural dialogue has become a buzzword at policy level, but there is a pressing need to synchronise the terminology of policymakers with that of academics. An overarching aim of this book is to explore the wide-ranging terminology relevant to intercultural dialogue in order to promote clearer consideration of the underlying issues. More specifically, this book reports the findings of a research project conducted in Japan that brought teaching practice to bear upon some of the main conflicting theoretical perspectives on how value judgment should be managed in foreign language education. At the heart of this issue lies the management of prejudice, which is a key dynamic in intercultural dialogue that brings many other factors into play.
