‘Christianity was bound at first to be a matter of faith and is only now beginning, very gradually, to be a matter of knowledge.’ – Rudolf Steiner Rudolf Steiner gave 70 lectures on the four canonical Gospels, characterizing the distinctive contribution of each of the evangelists. The Gospel of Mark is a ‘cosmic’ text that calls for an astronomical as well as a human reading. It is also critical for understanding the evolution of Christianity, which depends on knowledge of ‘the Mystery of Golgotha’ (Christ’s crucifixion, resurrection and ascension). ‘We are only at the beginning of Christian evolution’, Steiner states, reiterating that its further development will depend on spiritual knowledge. In order to develop such cognition, ‘most important of all is reverence for the great truths and the feeling that we can approach them only with awe and veneration’. Many profound spiritual truths are indeed revealed in these lectures. Among the panoply of topics covered are: ‘Mystery Teachings in St Mark’s Gospel’; ‘The Son of God and the Son of Man’; ‘The Symbolic Language of the Macrocosm’; ‘The Moon-religion of Yahweh’ and ‘The Penetration of the Buddha-Mercury Stream into Rosicrucianism’. This thoroughly revised edition includes notes and appendices by Frederick Amrine and an extensive introduction by Robert McDermott.

Italy in 1850 was a politically weak and divided country. The revolutionary spirit of 1848 had faded; much of the country was again under foreign control. Her political leaders were in exile, but they could not dismiss their dreams of a united Italy. Raymond Grew, in his account of the Italian National Society, shows the part that the Society had in realizing these dreams, and presents fresh material on the climactic years of the Risorgimento--who participated in it, what issues were involved, and how unification was accomplished. Drawing upon unpublished materials from archives and libraries throughout Europe, the author presents a comprehensive picture of the social, political, and intellectual climate of the period in which Italy became a nation. Originally published in 1963. The Princeton Legacy Library uses the latest print-on-demand technology to again make available previously out-of-print books from the distinguished backlist of Princeton University Press. These editions preserve the original texts of these important books while presenting them in durable paperback and hardcover editions. The goal of the Princeton Legacy Library is to vastly increase access to the rich scholarly heritage found in the thousands of books published by Princeton University Press since its founding in 1905.

Michael Annis (Senior editor of Howling Dog Press): "I published the entire Quodlibet in the OMEGA literary magazine online series. It is an amazing, gargantuan poem filled with some of the toughest writing you will come across. Profound, harrowing cantos of dark beauty, billowing with flames of passion, remorse, grace, despair and defiance. The howl of the WordWulf is terrifying to behold: terrifying with magnificence and truth." I would paint with words, soft & violent colors stabbing, caressing did I mention stardust on the eyes of expectant children webs of parenthood fire night, embers of those forgotten ones clinging to the ragged edge fragile-aged, insecure passengers smaller & whose visage is an always-open door of hope those hands clutched against bony breasts of despair too oft' untouched & ne'er held by phantom strangers ourselves we are what are we children are pieces of a wonderful puzzle the sides & corners notes from readers Quite some time ago, I wrote you with only the words "nice writing bro". Today I must tell you that your words paint pictures that usually only silence can describe. Sometimes, in life, there is this little pause, an escape if you will, from the constant bombardment surrounding. Often unexpected, and insipiently overwhelming, this pause, this moment can bring with it a shock, like a hot stove, and like a hot stove it can brand you forever. Just so, you light fires in quiet untouched spaces. So, to re-iterate... nice writing bro

Mary Eleanor Wilkins Freeman (October 31, 1852 - March 13, 1930) was a prominent 19th-century American author. Freeman was born in Randolph, Massachusetts on October 31, 1852, to Eleanor Lothrop and Warren Edward Wilkins, who originally baptized her "Mary Ella". Freeman's parents were orthodox Congregationalists, bestowing a very strict childhood. Religious constraints play a key role in some of her works. In 1867, the family moved to Brattleboro, Vermont, where Freeman graduated from the local high school before attending, Mount Holyoke College (then, Mount Holyoke Female Seminary) in South Hadley, Massachusetts, for one year, from 1870-71. She later finished her education at Glenwood Seminary in West Brattleboro. 3] When the family's dry goods business in Vermont failed in 1873, the family returned to Randolph, Massachusetts. Freeman's mother died three years later, and she changed her middle name to "Eleanor" in her memory.
