Ove Säverman, författare och journalist, tecknar i denna biografi ett inkännande porträtt av film- och schlagerkompositören Jules Sylvain, pseudonym för Stig Hansson (1900–1968). Författaren bjuder på en kronologisk genomgång som omspänner flera decennier och där Sylvains liv och karriär sätts in i ett brett sammanhang. Här fokuseras bland annat på åren på internatskola, genombrottet på 20-talet och följande produktiva årtionden med längre utlandsvistelser och flitigt komponerade av schlager- och filmmusik. Säg det i toner rymmer flertalet kompositioner och inspelningar av hans musik, och lyssnaren kan smidigt återfinna medtagna låtar på internet; 1.350 inspelningar ryms totalt.
