T. F. Torrance’s proposal for natural theology constitutes one of the most creative and provocative elements in his work. By re-envisioning natural theology as the cognitive structure of theology determined by God’s self-revelation in Jesus Christ (and not as the task of philosophically reflecting on the nature or existence of God aside from religious presuppositions), Torrance moves through and beyond Barth’s resistance to natural theology. This book establishes Torrance’s unique reconstruction of natural theology within its proper intellectual context, providing a fresh analysis of this important methodological innovation as it emerges from Torrance’s realist epistemology. As Irving demonstrates, in Torrance’s distinctive conception of science, he operated with an approach to cognition that functions via a realist synthesis of experience and understanding, and in Torrance’s theological science, this synthesis of experience and understanding is the synthesis of revealed theology and natural theology. The author argues that this reconstruction of natural theology expresses a dramatic vision for human agency within theological cognition, adding the necessity of the human knowing subject to the priority of the divine revealer. Finally, this book marries Torrance’s accomplishments in reconstructing natural theology to his Christocentric theological method, in which God is both revealed and known in the person of Jesus Christ, fully God and fully human.

Before I ever began putting words to paper and then to my keyboard I asked myself these two questions "Why am I writing this book and what do I hope the end result will be for my readers?" The answers came to me a short time later and the answers I came up with are as follows: #1 I want everyone who reads this book to be able to smile, remember fond memories, change things that need changing, grow in their lives and have fun while doing so. #2 Most of all though I want my reader to consider writing his or her own book recounting the thoughts they had while reading "Knowledge Bombs." Everyone has a book deep down inside of them and if you use this material as your catalyst there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to write your very own book. I can tell you from experience that there is nothing more rewarding than having your very first book published and read all over the world. Don't believe you can't do this. I am living proof that you can. I languished for years over whether or not I should write and finally decided that even if nobody ever read what I wrote it would be okay because I could at least say that I wrote my book. As it turned out thousands have bought and read my books all over the world and continue to do so to this day. So, if you are inspired by what I'm about to share with you please make notes as you read and then sit down and just begin writing. You'll be amazed at just how really easy it is to do. They're always friendly when you enter and the food is fairly priced and delicious. Having said that though I also relate to WH because there are days when I feel like one of the menu items that they offer and that's what I'll discuss later on. I think you'll enjoy this one for sure. ** YOU CAN'T COPYRIGHT YOUR LIFE...AND THAT'S A GOOD THING. When people write something they're always concerned about being able to copyright their material. I don't worry about that because in general you can't do anything about it anyway. I do of course put a copyright notice on my writings just to have a little bit of control but I also know that a violation of a copyright is going to happen once in a while, it's just how it is and if someone deems my writings worthy of stealing then good for them. I'm glad they enjoyed what I've written. In my case at least nobody would want to steal it anyway.
