Aulus Persius Flaccus (A.D. 34 - 62) was a Roman poet who produced six highly acclaimed satires during his brief life. Quoted or imitated by early church fathers like Augustine and Jerome, his satires present lively vignettes of first-century Roman life and were much read from antiquity through the Middle Ages. This new translation offers a fresh look while keeping the satirical edge that is uniquely Persius.
