Boken Tripp till världens ända - och något litet längre av Falstaff, fakir. Egentligen hette han Axel Wallengren. Han studerade i Lund och tillhörde samma kretsar som Strindberg umgicks i under sin lundatid strax efter fakirens död. Under pseudonymen Falstaff, fakir publicerade han sammanlagt tre böcker. En hvar sin egen professor, En hvar sin egen gentleman (båda 1894) och Lyckans lexikon (1896). När han dog 1896 förelåg en fjärde bok i manuskript. Det är den som nu utkommer på Bakhåll. Tripp till världens ända - och något litet längre är en rafflande historia med förvecklingar och spetsfundigheter. Fakiren själv är huvudperson, men här finns också Adrian, Kuku, Adrians hulda moder samt den kloke Sixten Wennersex och andra färgstarka gestalter. Händelseförloppet blandas upp med lärda utläggningar om högt och lågt. Om kypare. Om flugans väsen. Om regler för slagsmål. Om modern sport. Om nyttan av att äta. Om konsten att bli rysligt gammal. Hela det väldiga ämnet filosofi avhandlas på en effektiv halvsida. "Ordet filosofi kommer av grekiska ordet filo = jag älskar och sofo = jag sover; alltså: att älska sömn." Filosofernas avundade slutledningskonst exemplifieras med bestickande belägg: "Alla menniskor äro födda; elefanten föder levande ungar; alltså är elefantkalven en menniska." Hösten 1895 reste Wallengren som Aftonbladets korrespondent till Berlin där han blev sjuk i miliartuberkulos, en sjukdom som kunde ha ett mycket snabbt förlopp. Han dog i Berlin 1896, endast 31 år gammal. Tripp till världens ända - och något litet längre låg opublicerad och kom inte i tryck förrän 1948.
