IntroductionThe Lord has inspired me to compose this devotional to remind His people that it is His desire that we live life in good health: physically, mentally, and spiritually. He wants us healthy, wealthy, and wise. Over the years man-made tradition and wrong teaching has been ingrained into our minds. We have been told that the Lord puts sickness and disease on people to "teach us a lesson", but the truth of the matter is that when Jesus laid down His life for us at Calvary, He took all of our sicknesses and diseases so we could be free of them. In most cases a sick and ailing person cannot completely fulfill the plan and purpose God has for their lives. Many people become ill, bogged down in their body as well as their minds, and give up the fight for life. I'm here to tell you - never, ever, never give up...God wants you well At the beginning of 2013 I began to notice that my appetite had decreased. I love to eat but I did not pay it much attention. Everything began to taste unpleasant and no matter how much I tried to eat I could never complete a full meal. I began to lose a tremendous amount of weight. My family began to notice and began prompting me to go to the doctor. I refused. The weight continued to come off and now I had begun to have other issues. I would begin a sentence and stop in mid sentence because I could not remember what I was going to say. I became increasingly weak and fatigued, all the time praying to God and believing Him for healing. This went on for most of 2013. I have always been a very healthy female, weighing between 140-155 pounds. By the time this battle ended I had dwindled down to 90 pounds. On the morning of August 26, 2013, after being awakened by my alarm clock, being so tired and fatigued I got back in bed and went back to sleep. I did not understand until the Lord told me later that I was headed for eternal slumber that day. That is another testimony in itself. I praise and thank God it was not my time He still has work for me to do God turned things around that day and put me back on the path to total and complete health and wellness Hallelujah, thank You Jesus Today my health is restored, my weight is back (160 pounds - a little more than I would like but I'll take it), and my mind is completely sound If you believe and trust in God, He will do the same for you. He is no respecter of persons and He has promised every one of His children long life (Psalm 91:16).
The development of blockchain technology over the last decade has had a far-reaching impact on the creation, ownership and trading of artwork, especially digital art. In an accessibly written text aimed at a broad audience of art-world readers, Valérie C. Whitacre demonstrates how the blockchain (a decentralised, distributed and public digital ledger used to permanently record transactions) continues to revolutionise our understanding of what can be considered a work of art as well as how art can be traded and consumed. Tracing the heritage of so-called ‘Crypto Art' (digital art recorded on the blockchain) to earlier fine-art movements such as Fluxus, Conceptual art, photography and performance, the book shows that different collecting and ownership tools (such as the Certificate of Authenticity) were already established prior to the invention of the blockchain. The breakthrough achieved by blockchain technology, via NFTs (non-fungible tokens), lies both in its power to verify the authenticity, ownership, provenance and value of digital artwork and as a medium on which digital art might be transcribed. Moreover, innovators have begun creating solutions for the technology to further enable the same possibilities for the verification and valuation of physical pieces, challenging some of the most basic precepts of the traditional art market. This book provides insight and inspiration for those working both inside and outside the Crypto Art community, drawing on the innovations of creators, curators and institutions testing the boundaries of the technology.

The first comprehensive study of African American suburban political empowerment. The country's largest concentration of African American suburban affluence represents a unique laboratory to study the internal factors associated with African American political ascendancy and the convergence of race and class. Black Power in the Suburbs chronicles Prince George's County, Maryland, and the twenty-three year quest by African Americans to influence educational policy and become equal partners in the county's governing coalition. Johnson challenges conventional notions of a monolithic community by addressing the manner in which class cleavages among African Americans affect their representation and policy interests in suburbia. She also documents white resistance to power sharing and the impact of school desegregation on white population trends.

Charles Cornelius Coffin Painter (1833-89), clergyman turned reformer, was one of the foremost advocates and activists in the late-nineteenth-century movement to reform U.S. Indian policy. Very few individuals possessed the influence Painter wielded in the movement, and Painter himself published numerous pamphlets for the Indian Rights Association (IRA) on the Southern Utes, Eastern Cherokees, California Indians, and other Native peoples. Yet this is the first book to fully consider his unique role and substantial contribution. Born in Virginia, Painter spent most of his life in Great Barrington, Massachusetts, commuting to New York City and Washington, D.C., initially as an agent of the American Missionary Association (AMA), later as an appointed member of the Board of Indian Commissions (BIC), and most significant, as the Indian Rights Association's D.C. agent. In these capacities he lobbied presidents and Congress for reform, conducted extensive investigations on reservations, and shaped deliberations in such reform bodies as the BIC and the influential Lake Mohonk conferences. Mining an extraordinary wealth of archival material, Valerie Sherer Mathes crafts a compelling account of Painter as a skilled negotiator with Indians and policymakers and as a tireless investigator who traveled to far-flung reservations, corresponded with countless Indian agents, and drafted scrupulously researched reports on his findings. Recounted in detail, his many adventures and behind-the-scenes activities - promoting education, striving to prevent the removal of the Southern Utes from Colorado, investigating reservation fraud, working to save the Piegans of Montana from starvation - afford a clear picture of Painter's importance to the overall reform effort to incorporate Native Americans into the fabric of American life. No other book so effectively captures the day-to-day and exhausting work of a single individual on the front lines of reform. Like most of his fellow advocates, Painter was an unapologetic assimilationist, a man of his times whose story is a key chapter in the history of the Indian reform movement.

William C. Van Horne was one of North America’s most accomplished men. Born in Illinois in 1843, Van Horne started working in the railway business at a young age. In 1881 he was lured north to Canada to become general manager of the fledgling Canadian Pacific Ralway. The railroading general pushed through construction of the CPR’s transcontinental line and then went on to become the company’s president. During his time with the CPR, Van Horne developed a telegraph service, launched the Empress line of Pacific steamships in 1891, and founded CP Hotels. He capped his career by opening up Cuba’s interior with a railway. A man of prodigious energy and many talents, he also became Canada’s foremost art collector and one of the country’s leading financiers. For all of his amazing accomplishments, Van Horne was knighted in 1894. When he died church bells throughout the length and breadth of Cuba tolled to mark his passing, and when his funeral train made its way across Canada, all traffic on the CPR system was suspended for five minutes.

English in Print from Caxton to Shakespeare to Milton

English in Print from Caxton to Shakespeare to Milton examines the history of early English books, exploring the concept of putting the English language into print with close study of the texts, the formats, the audiences, and the functions of English books. Lavishly illustrated with more than 130 full-color images of stunning rare books, this volume investigates a full range of issues regarding the dissemination of English language and culture through printed works, including the standardization of typography, grammar, and spelling; the appearance of popular literature; and the development of school grammars and dictionaries. Valerie Hotchkiss and Fred C. Robinson provide engaging descriptions of more than a hundred early English books drawn from the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and the Elizabethan Club of Yale University. The study nearly mirrors the chronological coverage of Pollard and Redgrave's famous Short-Title Catalogue (1475-1640), beginning with William Caxton, England's first printer, and ending with John Milton, the English language's most eloquent defender of the freedom of the press in his Areopagitica of 1644. William Shakespeare, neither a printer nor a writer much concerned with publishing his own plays, nonetheless deserves his central place in this study because Shakespeare imprints, and Renaissance drama in general, provide a fascinating window on the world of English printing in the period between Caxton and Milton.
