'Wells for Shepherds' is an intergenerational resource. The book is born out of a strong belief that a Christian community, including worship, should be intergenerational - not segmented. Therefore, 'Wells for Shepherds' is a book for all ages. For the old to read to the young or to read for themselves. For young and old to explore together the textures and nuances of Scripture. In the words of 'Godly Play' the book's aim is to generate wonder in all ages.

The lifeboat station at Wells-next-the-Sea is an integral part of the town and locality. The lifeboat crew, all volunteers with the exception of the Coxswain/mechanic, devote much of their time to the station and maintain a tradition of life-saving that dates back to the early nineteenth century. The first RNLI Lifeboat on station was in 1869. In 1880 tragedy struck when the lifeboat Eliza Adams capsized with the loss of eleven crew. Motor lifeboats have been on station since the 1930s and in 1963 Wells was one of the first to operate an inshore lifeboat. Today, the 12m Mersey lifeboat is always ready for launching and is an attraction to many tourists who travel to the town. Wells-next-the-Sea Lifeboats is a tribute to the men who have served the Wells lifeboat station and provides an account of how the lifeboat service has changed over more than a century and a half.
Wells, Fargo & Co. Stagecoach and Train Robberies, 1870-1884
In January 1, 1885, Wells, Fargo & Company's chief detective James B. Hume and special agent John N. Thacker published a report summarizing the company's losses during the previous 14 years. It listed 313 stagecoach robberies, 23 burglaries, and four train robberies but included little or no details of the events themselves, focusing instead on physical descriptions of the robbers. Widely circulated, the report was intended to assist law enforcement in identifying and apprehending the criminals believed still to present a danger to the company. The present volume revisits each crime, updating Hume and Thacker's original report with rich new details culled from local newspapers, personal diary entries, and court records.

Two orphans face starvation on the prairie of northeastern Kansas during the terrible winter of 1885–86. Dell and Joel Wells, redheads who have barely reached shaving age, are about to abandon their dead father's claim on Beaver Creek because it won't grow crops. Then unexpected events, and a drover seeking aid, allow them a decent chance in life. First published in 1911, Wells Brothers, The Young Cattle Kings shows what happens when experienced enterprise meets youthful energy. The boys develop their own ranch on the Beaver, without capital but with honor. No amount of savvy can entirely prepare them for the risks: cruel winters, rapacious wolf packs, summer droughts, mysterious Texas fever, the shifting circumstances of the cattle trade. Andy Adams (1859–1935), author of the classic Log of a Cowboy (also available as a Bison Book), wraps the saga of the Wells brothers in authentic western atmosphere and lore.

Henry Wells (1805–78) and William Fargo (1818–81) first worked together when they broke the Post Office monopoly on mail service along the Erie Canal in the 1840s. In 1852 they incorporated Wells, Fargo & Company and went into the express business in California, carrying gold, letters, packages, and freight between the mining regions and the financial centers of the East. They registered the miners to receive deliveries, guarded the gold-dust shipments, apprehended stage robbers, recovered stolen gold and silver, and established a reliable, conservative banking house in the world's wickedest city, San Francisco. They survived the collapse of the mining industry, the great California panic of 1855, the depredations of bandits such as Rattlesnake Dick and Black Bart, the dominance of the railroads, and the San Francisco earthquake and fire. Acclaimed Western writer Ralph Moody tells the exciting story of Henry Wells and his drivers, messengers, and riders; his accountants, managers, and detectives; and how they built a lasting empire in a business most entrepreneurs thought too risky to try. Moody, author of more than a dozen books on Western subjects, gives an action-packed account that readers young and old will enjoy.

Wells has changed dramatically yet it still maintains the basic layout of its early medieval nucleus, many medieval buildings, and a rich archive of documents from the 12th century onwards. In the past few years Wells has attracted scholarly attention, including Dr. Rodwell’s archaeological work, which has pushed back the roots of the town by three centuries, while Prof. Stokes, of Wisconsin, has discovered much on guild entertainments, Gary Shaw, from Canada, has researched early political development and the author has studied the evolution of the town.

Do you know what Prosperity feels like? Is it solely experienced on a physical level when you are surrounded by symbols of wealth and riches? Or is it a peaceful state of mind without any worries, illness, or stress? One thing is for sure . . . there is an unlimited supply for anyone willing to understand the principles that shape your perception of prosperity and wealth. Understanding that supply means more than just meeting our need for air, food, water, and shelter. Ingraham helped the world to see the spiritual side of supply as the inner foundation of peace and happiness from within. These are the principles E.V. Ingraham (1882-1978) wrote about in WELLS OF ABUNDANCE while active at Unity Village in Lee's Summit Missouri over 80 years ago. He joined the staff at Unity School in 1919 and organized the Sales department that supplied literature to Unity centers. This is where he soon became acquainted with Douglas DeVorss, who was the Unity Sales Director before he founded DeVorss & Company in Los Angeles in 1929.Originally published in 1938, WELLS OF ABUNDANCE was written during an era when most books referred to people with masculine references and pronouns without implying that one gender was more entitled or more deserving than the other. In this updated edition, DeVorss Publications has enhanced the meaning by making subtle changes that allow the message to be all-encompassing for all readers.
