Andy was in town getting a block of ice for his mother's ice chest, a heavy point for his father's plow, and a bag of horehound candy for Grandpa when he saw--the circus poster If only he could buy a ticket. "Great snakes, boy " said Grandpa, "Don't go bothering people for money. If you want a ticket, go to the circus grounds and get yourself a job. They'll pay you with a ticket to the big show." Follow along as kind-hearted Andy rises at daybreak, pedals his way to town seeking a job, while helping family and friends along the way. Will he make it in time? Will there be a job with the circus for Andy? Will he earn a ticket to the big show? Ellis Credle penned this humorous classic nearly fifty years ago. It's been delighting readers for generations, while exemplifying the values of self-reliance and kindness to others.

For the first time ever, the two people who knew Andy Kaufman best open up about the most enigmatic artist of our generation. Comedian and Taxi star Andy Kaufman, known for his crazy antics on screen and off, was the ultimate prankster, delighting audiences with his Elvis and Mighty Mouse impressions while also antagonizing them with his wrestling and lounge-lizard alter ego, Tony Clifton. Some say he died in 1984, while others believe he performed the ultimate vanishing act. In Andy Kaufman: The Truth, Finally, Bob Zmuda, Andy's writer and best friend, and Lynn Margulies, the love of Andy's life, reveal all--including surprising secrets that Andy made Lynne and Bob promise never to tell until both of his parents had died. Hilarious and poignant, this book separates fact from fiction, and includes a candid inside look at the Milos Forman film Man on the Moon, which Zmuda coexecutive produced and featured Jim Carrey as Andy, Paul Giamatti as Zmuda, Courtney Love as Margulies, and Danny DeVito as Andy's manager, George Shapiro. Finally, Bob Zmuda shares in detail the reasons he believes Andy Kaufman did, in fact, fake his own death, including exactly how he did it and why he will return.

Andy Warhol’s The Chelsea Girls had its premiere at the Film-Maker’s Cinémathèque on 15 September 1966. It sold out a 200-seat theatre and went on to become the first film to move from the underground to commercial cinema. Since 1972, when Warhol pulled all of his films out of distribution, the public has had extremely limited access to The Chelsea Girls , outside of museum screenings. In honour of the 20th Anniversary of The Andy Warhol Museum and what would have been Warhol’s 85th birthday, hundreds of Warhol’s films – some never seen before – have been converted to a digital format with the partnership of The Andy Warhol Museum, The Museum of Modern Art, New York, and the Moving Picture Company (MPC), a Technicolor Company. This book is an in-depth look at Warhol’s most famous film. It includes all newly digitized film stills, never-before-published transcripts, unpublished archival materials, and expanded information about each of the individual films that comprise the three- plus hour film. As the film alternates sound between the left and right screens, the book reproduces the transcript in complete form as one hears it, with imagery from the corresponding reels. There is also a full transcription of the unheard reels in the back of the book. This is a substantial contribution to the scholarship on Warhol’s complex and most commercial film.

Andy Warhol's Brain

To this day, mention the name “Andy Warhol” to almost anyone and you’ll hear about his famous images of soup cans and Marilyn Monroe. But although Pop Art became synonymous with Warhol’s name and dominated the public’s image of him, his life and work and worldwide influences are infinitely more complex and multi-faceted than that. And Phillip Romero, MD is just the person to explain exactly what that impact was and is and from whence it derives. In Andy Warhol’s Brain, esteemed psychiatrist Phillip Romero takes on Andy Warhol in all his depth and dimensions. The book is essentially a return to renowned psychiatrist Phillip Romero’s scheduled interview with his friend Warhol that never happened, as it was scheduled for the day after Andy’s untimely death. The book is both homage to Warhol for his inspiring friendship with the author and a platform for Romero to explore his thesis, “Art for Survival.” Romero here presents the extraordinary results of an agreement between the approaches to a topic of different academic subjects: in this case science and the humanities. It offers a unique and exceptional advance in thinking about artistry and intellect.Doctor Romero’s work as a family/child psychiatrist led him to formulate the concept of “Creative Intelligence,” which he defines as the effortful attention of the individual “mind” to recruit both these attributes to change oneself, to evolve social systems, and to sustain the environment to improve the quality and duration of human life. Romero found himself deep into researching the brain-mind/art-culture continuum of Creative Intelligence, and in doing so, his friend Andy Warhol presented a perfect example of the concept. This book is an effort to integrate the life and art of Andy Warhol with the brain-mind/art-culture system that informs the evolution of human civilization. The struggle between Creative Intelligence and adversity exists within each human being. Romero uses Warhol’s life as a mirror to inspire the reader’s Creative Intelligence in reinventing themselves through the complex and challenging times we live in. In this groundbreaking work that comes from the unique perspective of a world-class psychiatrist and practicing artist himself, Romero explains that for individuals, creativity protects us from our painful pasts and inspires us to create a better present for a more secure future. Creative Intelligence harnesses our inborn resilience and creativity. It is an ongoing mind-body process of effortful attention: remembering, reflecting, reframing, reimagining, reinventing, and reconnecting with oneself and the world.
