In this book voter behavior is analyzed from an economist's point of view. The influence of an economy on voter behavior is investigated and this behavior is analyzed in the perspective commonly used by economists. Econom(etr)ic tools are applied in the analyses. The book contains empirical analyses linking demographic variables to voter turnout and party choice using cross-section data for the Netherlands. Attention is focused on whether turnout and party choice decisions are taken sequentially or simultaneously by voters. An empirical test supports the former. Using these results, behavioral models of party choice and voter turnout are developed. Existing econometric analyses of voting behavior are put on a more solid theoretical footing. In both models a group perspective is used, in line with increased attention for this perspective in economics and political science. Empirical applications of the party choice model allow for an estimation of relative preferences for public goods, using the revealed preference mechanism provided by voting (intention). An alternative method for detecting these preferences, a new survey design, is discussed as well. In the turnout model, attention is fo- cused on the role of "civic duty" in a group context.

Die Arbeit behandelt zunachst die Einordnung der Anlage von Golfplatzen in das System des Raumordnungs- und Landesplanungsrechts. Es schliesst sich ein Abschnitt uber die Umweltvertraglichkeitsprufung an. Im Mittelpunkt der Bearbeitung steht das baurechtliche Genehmigungsverfahren. Dabei wird insbesondere die Frage aufgeworfen, ob ein Golfplatz als privilegiertes Vorhaben i.S.d. 35 Abs. 1 BauGB zu bewerten ist. Die Bedingungen der Zulassigkeit von Golfplatzen bestimmen sich - sieht man von der Aufstellung eines Bebauungsplanes ab - nach den Vorschriften des 35 Abs. 2 und 3 BauGB. Die Arbeit schliesst mit einem praktisch orientierten Abschnitt uber Optimierungsmassnahmen beim Bau eines Golfplatzes."
Revision with unchanged content. Biomimetics is the use of principles learned in biological systems to manmade systems. The Sprawl family of robots are inspired by research on cockroaches and other agile runners. Without maneuverability, these robots are limited to straight running and stability investigations, as well as reduced real-world applicability. Because of their performance and versatility, the Sprawlettes and iSprawl, two members of the Sprawl family, serve as good platforms to study biomimetic inspired maneuvers. In this work, Design of Experiment techniques are used to identify the single most effective turning method. Then this method is further studied to yield a single variable which can provide a full range of turning behavior. Using this variable, system identification techniques were applied to identify bandwidth limitations and characterize the turning dynamics. The similarities and differences in the Sprawlettes and iSprawl have contributed to the understanding and explanation of turning behavior for dynamic legged robots, and helped develop dynamic maneuverability concepts to aid future investigations.

This book is a result of an effort made by us towards making a contribution to the preservation and repair of original classic literature. In an attempt to preserve, improve and recreate the original content, we have worked towards: 1. Type-setting & Reformatting: The complete work has been re-designed via professional layout, formatting and type-setting tools to re-create the same edition with rich typography, graphics, high quality images, and table elements, giving our readers the feel of holding a 'fresh and newly' reprinted and/or revised edition, as opposed to other scanned & printed (Optical Character Recognition - OCR) reproductions. 2. Correction of imperfections: As the work was re-created from the scratch, therefore, it was vetted to rectify certain conventional norms with regard to typographical mistakes, hyphenations, punctuations, blurred images, missing content/pages, and/or other related subject matters, upon our consideration. Every attempt was made to rectify the imperfections related to omitted constructs in the original edition via other references.
