Learn and implement the latest Arm Cortex-M microcontroller development concepts such as performance optimization, security, software reuse, machine learning, continuous integration, and cloud-based development from industry expertsKey FeaturesLearn how to select the best Cortex-M hardware, software, and tools for your projectUnderstand the use of key software components and how to optimize and develop modern applicationsGet hands-on experience implementing quality software using example code provided in the bookPurchase of the print or Kindle book includes a free eBook in the PDF formatBook DescriptionCortex-M has been around since 2004, so why a new book now? With new microcontrollers based on the Cortex-M55 and Cortex-M85 being introduced this year, Cortex-M continues to expand. New software concepts, such as standardized software reuse, have emerged alongside new topics including security and machine learning. Development methodologies have also significantly advanced, with more embedded development taking place in the cloud and increased levels of automation. Due to these advances, a single engineer can no longer understand an entire project and requires new skills to be successful. This book provides a unique view of how to navigate and apply the latest concepts in microcontroller development. The book is split into two parts. First, you’ll be guided through how to select the ideal set of hardware, software, and tools for your specific project. Next, you’ll explore how to implement essential topics for modern embedded developers. Throughout the book, there are examples for you to learn by working with real Cortex-M devices with all software available on GitHub. You will gain experience with the small Cortex-M0+, the powerful Cortex-M55, and more Cortex-M processors.By the end of this book, you’ll be able to practically apply modern Cortex-M software development concepts. What you will learnFamiliarize yourself with heuristics to identify the right components for your Cortex-M projectBoot code to efficiently start up a Cortex-M deviceOptimize algorithms with compilers, middleware, and other meansGet to grips with machine learning frameworks and implementation techniquesUnderstand security in the embedded space with solutions like TrustZone and TF-MExplore cloud-based development methodologies to increase efficiencyDive into continuous integration frameworks and best practicesIdentify future trends that could impact Cortex-M software developmentWho this book is forThis book is for practicing engineers and students working with embedded and IoT systems who want to quickly learn how to develop quality software for Arm Cortex-M processors without reading long technical manuals. If you’re looking for a book that explains C or assembly language programming for the purpose of creating a single application or mastering a type of programming such as digital signal processing algorithms, then this book is NOT for you. A basic understanding of embedded hardware and software, along with general C programming skills will assist with understanding the concepts covered in this book.
Tweeting to Power

Tweeting to Power

Jason Gainous; Kevin M. Wagner

Online social media are changing the face of politics in the United States. Beginning with a strong theoretical foundation grounded in political, communications and psychology literature, Tweeting to Power examines the effect of online social media on how people come to learn, understand and engage in politics. Gainous and Wagner propose that platforms such as Facebook and Twitter offer the opportunity for a new information flow that is no longer being structured and limited by the popular media. Television and newspapers, which were traditionally the sole or primary gatekeeper, can no longer limit or govern what information is exchanged. By lowering the cost of both supplying the information and obtaining it, social networking applications have recreated how, when and where people are informed. To establish this premise, Gainous and Wagner analyze multiple datasets, quantitative and qualitative, exploring and measuring the use of social media by voters and citizens as well as the strategies and approaches adopted by politicians and elected officials. They illustrate how these new and growing online communities are new forums for the exchange of information that is governed by relationships formed and maintained outside traditional media. Using empirical measures, they prove both how candidates utilize Twitter to shape the information voters rely upon and how effective this effort was at garnering votes in the 2010 congressional elections. With both theory and data, Gainous and Wagner show how the social media revolution is creating a new paradigm for political communication and shifting the very foundation of the political process.

Stereochemistry at a Glance

Stereochemistry at a Glance

Jason Eames; Josephine M. Peach

Blackwell Science Ltd

Stereochemistry deals with the three-dimensional arrangement of atoms in molecules. All chemical reactions take place three dimensions and the spatial arrangement of those atoms can have a profound effect on the outcome of a chemical reaction. A good understanding of stereochemistry is, therefore, fundamental to any detailed appreciation and study of organic chemistry. Based on the highly successful at a Glance series from Blackwell Publishing, this book provides a concise introduction and overview of stereochemistry for students studying chemistry and related courses at undergraduate level. It then reinforces that overview by presenting 49 fully worked out stereochemistry problems, presented in the familiar at a Glance double page layout. A further 98 supplementary problems, with abbreviated answers, are designed to help the undergraduate student rapidly develop the knack of thinking in three dimensions, and generate the confidence to apply their knowledge of stereochemistry in the classroom, the exam room or the laboratory. Graphical presentation of information is central to the book. As befits such a visual subject, this facilitates the rapid assimilation and understanding of the basic concepts, principles and definitions of stereochemistry. Students using Stereochemistry at a Glance will find they have a resource with which they can quickly, economically and confidently acquire, regularly review and revise the basic facts that underpin stereochemistry.
