Die seit 1925 erscheinenden Arbeiten zur Kirchengeschichte bilden eine der traditionsreichsten historischen Buchreihen im deutschsprachigen Raum. The author here presents an attempt to understand four especially puzzling chapters of late Old Testament prophets (Isaiah 24?27). He interprets Isaiah 24?27 as a component of the final redaction of the book of Isaiah. The so-called Isaiah apocalypse is understood as a fruit of the liturgically influenced interpretation of Scripture at the end of the Ptolemaic period."
Der Autor präsentiert einen Beitrag zur neutestamentlichen Evangelienliteratur. Er untersucht in seiner literarischen und traditionsgeschichtlichen Analyse Lk 8-21 als integralen Teil des lukanischen Doppelwerkes. Seit Schleiermacher ist für die Erforschung des dritten Evangeliums die Hypothese eines mit Lk 9,51 beginnenden und über etwa zehn Kapitel sich erstreckenden "Reiseberichts" bzw. einer entsprechenden "central section" (so im angelsächsischen Sprachraum) leitend. Der Autor zeigt, dass diese Hypothese unlukanisch ist. Dadurch eröffnet sich ein neuer Zugang zum lukanischen Gesamtentwurf. Teil der Textanalyse ist u.a. ein Vergleich mit den narrativen Techniken der antiken Bios-Literatur.
It has long been suspected that Yahweh, the God of the Old Testament, was originally a weather god of the same type as the Syrian Baal. The present study presents the exegetic basis for this. It demonstrates how the Psalter preserves various ancient cultic songs praising Yahweh as a royal weather god. Parallels in Syrian and Mesopotamian weather god traditionsshow that originally the Ancient Hebrew notion of God was not fundamentally different from that of its surroundings.
This textbook is devoted to the general asymptotic theory of statistical experiments. Local asymptotics for statistical models in the sense of local asymptotic (mixed) normality or local asymptotic quadraticity make up the core of the book. Numerous examples deal with classical independent and identically distributed models and with stochastic processes. The book can be read in different ways, according to possibly different mathematical preferences of the reader. One reader may focus on the statistical theory, and thus on the chapters about Gaussian shift models, mixed normal and quadratic models, and on local asymptotics where the limit model is a Gaussian shift or a mixed normal or a quadratic experiment (LAN, LAMN, LAQ). Another reader may prefer an introduction to stochastic process models where given statistical results apply, and thus concentrate on subsections or chapters on likelihood ratio processes and some diffusion type models where LAN, LAMN or LAQ occurs. Finally, readers might put together both aspects. The book is suitable for graduate students starting to work in statistics of stochastic processes, as well as for researchers interested in a precise introduction to this area.
This is the first book which brings together the fields of theoretical and empirical studies in syntax on the one hand and the methodology of quantitative linguistics on the other hand. The author provides the theoretical background for this enterprise on the basis of the philosophy of science and of linguistic considerations including a discussion of Chomsky’s attitude against the application of statistical methods to syntactic phenomena. He gives a short introduction into the aims and methods of the quantitative approach to linguistics in general and to syntax in particular. The following chapters inform the reader about the measurement of syntactic properties, possibilities to acquire empirical data from syntactically annotated text corpora and the most common mathematical models and methods for the analysis of syntactic and syntagmatic material. Then, a number of prominent approaches and hypotheses about interrelations between properties of syntactic constructions are presented and evaluated on material from various languages and text kinds. Finally, the theory of synergetic linguistics and its application to syntax is introduced including the integration of such famous hypotheses as Yngve’s depth hypothesis and Hawkins’s "Early immediate constituent" principle. The book concludes with a number of perspectives with respect to follow-up studies and extensions to the presented models with interfaces to neighbouring disciplines.
