Di seguito al delitto precedente, una chiamata dall' ospedale avvisa il commissariato del ricovero di una giovane paziente in gravissimo stato di choc. Le caratteristiche dell'ispettore, i suoi rituali e le "amicizie particolari", faranno la differenza per portare alla luce, non solo la causa del ricovero della giovane paziente, ma addirittura la sua identit e la sua residenza: seppur in stato di choc, la paziente stringe in mano un piccolo oggetto che l'ispettore porter via con s pur non sapendo cosa sia e a cosa possa essergli utile.
