Without a doubt, new technologies, and notably the Internet, have had a profound and lasting impact on the marketing function. A paradigm shift has occurred which will forever change the way marketers and marketing managers work. This doesn’t mean, however, that ‘old’ marketing tools are no longer relevant. In this brand new textbook, Cor Molenaar summarizes classic concepts and current developments to create a new, integrated marketing model, in which all components are part of a customer-oriented approach. Molenaar highlights the influence of the application of IT and the Internet within marketing and reveals how this can affect the form, focus and business model of an organization.Supplemented by practical examples throughout, e-Marketing is an essential read for all marketing and business administration students.

E-Governance in India

E-Governance in India

Bidisha Chaudhuri

E-Governance has been one of the strategic sectors of reform in India since late 1990s under the rubric of ‘good governance’ agenda promoted by International Organizations. As India’s policy focus changed towards economic liberalization, deregulation and privatization proliferating domestic and foreign investment, ICT (Information Communication Technology) has been one of the leading areas for such heightened investment. Consequently, there has been a burgeoning interest in deploying ICT, in revamping the public service delivery and eventually the overall system of governance. This book analyses e-Governance in India and argues that such initiatives did not take place in isolation but followed in the footsteps of broader governance reform agenda that has already made considerable impact on the discourses and practices of governance in India. Employing interdisciplinary methodology by combining approaches from the Political Sciences, Sociology and Postcolonial/ transcultural studies, this book presents a qualitative account of the policies and practices of e-Governance reform in India along with a detailed case study of the Common Services Centres (CSCs) Scheme under the National e-Governance Plan of the Government of India and its resultant impact on the overall system of governance. It unfolds general theoretical issues in terms of the relationship between technology and governance and the entanglement of politics, technology and culture in the complex whole of governance. This furthers our understanding of the impact of the transnational governance reform agenda on post-colonial and post-communist societies of the developing world.Making an important and original contribution to the emerging field of e-Governance and to the existing body of research on governance in general, this book will be of interest to students and scholars of Political Science, Political Sociology, South Asian Politics and Governance.

This book looks at how information and communication technology and e-government influences power relations in public administration in China. It highlights the role of technology in combating corruption, and clarifies the interplay between ideas, institutions and technologies in shaping the foundation for organisational change. Using fieldwork based case studies, the book provides an incisive view into the working processes of the Chinese administration previously inaccessible to research. It challenges the high expectations for the transformative potential of information technology, and is a valuable contribution to the debate on Chinese reforms.

Developing hand in hand with e-Business in its use of information and communication technologies (ICTs), e-Government emerged in the 1990s with the promise of a more accessible, efficient and transparent form for public institutions to perform and interact with citizens. The successes-and some critics say, general failures-of e-Government initiatives around the world have led to the development of e-Governance-a broader, more encompassing concept that involves not only public institutions but private ones as well. Taking a multidisciplinary approach, this book explores e-Governance in theory and practice with an analytical narrative from heterodox perspectives. Covering such essential issues as global governance of the Internet, the European Knowledge Economy, the transformative promise of mobile telephony, the rise of e-Universities, Internet accessibility for the disabled and e-Governance in transition economies, this book draws on contributions from experienced academics and practitioners with an expertise in an emerging field. In addition, each chapter includes such features as discussion of key issues that draw on case studies in order to facilitate significant discussion questions.

No less than a revolutionary transformation of the research enterprise is underway. This transformation extends beyond the natural sciences, where 'e-research' has become the modus operandi, and is penetrating the social sciences and humanities, sometimes with differences in accent and label. Many suggest that the very essence of scholarship in these areas is changing. The everyday procedures and practices of traditional forms of scholarship are affected by these and other features of e-research. This volume, which features renowned scholars from across the globe who are active in the social sciences and humanities, provides critical reflection on the overall emergence of e-research, particularly on its adoption and adaptation by the social sciences and humanities.

"… e-learning has just moved from something that was an experiment-a very healthy experiment three or four years ago-to main line. I think we're at the very early stages of really understanding the power it has. It's no longer a question of whether it will be effective or how much it can increase productivity; it's just a question of degree." John Chambers CEO, Cisco Systems "For those who view the training function as a strategic service, this book deftly updates detailed consultative models for the realities of post dot-com e-learning . For those that do not view the training function as a strategic service, this book will change your mind. Both politically and technologically savvy, Morrison's breadth of understanding coupled with what can only be called humanity, makes this worthwhile and even exciting. My advice would be to read it with a colleague so you do not have to waste time recounting it before you get going." Clark Aldrich, Co-founder of SimuLearn "Don Morrison provides a clear insight into where the maturing e-learning world is headed and how to develop a strategy to get there successfully. True to the title, he delivers pragmatic advice, appropriate cautions, and asks and answers some of the tough questions often missed during implementation. Don shares my passion for the very real and pending promise of personalized learning for all adults, and articulates this clearly for all who read this book. Highly recommended reading." The strategy of e-commerce determines what must be done to generate the transactions that must occur. The technology of e-commerce determines how the e-commerce web site will work. McKeown's text covers the technology side by discussing the development of web applications that handle the interaction between the various stakeholders including consumers, vendors, suppliers, etc. The content is related to systems analysis and design; however, instead of traditional systems development life cycle approach, e-commerce development uses different techniques due to the need for speed and flexibility.
