In a well-known debate with Geraldo Ferraz in 1948, L cio Costa argued that modern architecture as practiced in Brazil only became truly interesting when the functional grounds of this new architecture - bequeathed to us by Le Corbusier - were incorporated and developed by the national genius.From then on - the argument goes -, we could actually be proud of an architecture that was authentically ours, deeply rooted in a tradition that went back to the colonial baroque style from Minas Gerais. Moreover, in our modern architectural production, Oscar Niemeyer played a role equivalent to that of Aleijadinho, embodying to the highest degree the latent possibilities of "Brazilianness". "There is much more affinity" - L cio Costa insisted - "between Oscar's work, as seen in the admirable Pampulha ensemble, and Aleijadinho's masterpiece - the church of S o Francisco de Assis, in Ouro Preto - than between Oscar's work and that of Warchavchik - which is, in my view, a quite significant fact." Even more significant than that is the formula L cio Costa applies when he's sorting out affinities and pushing the premise that the national element in this new architecture is actually more vigorous than the modern one. He argues that, on the one hand, there are genuine, innovativeworks - seeds that sprout beautifully in our tropical soil, nurtured by the most authentic native sap; on the other hand, we also find imitations devoid of any ties to our traditions; these are second or third-hand copies, like exotic trees transplanted after full maturation somewhere else. L cio Costa's words, pregnant with meanings, implications and commitments, outlines a distinction that has enjoyed a long history among us, that is: the distinction between Brazilian modern architecture and modern architecture in Brazil.

Raro, exc ntrico, monstruo: el uruguayo Mario Levrero y el argentino Alberto Laiseca permanecieron largo tiempo escritores de culto, marginales tanto en el mercado literario globalizado como en el campo de la investigaci n universitaria. Para acercarse a estos autores e intentar elucidar sus po ticas idiosincr sicas, el presente estudio propone el concepto original de de/lirio: la articulaci n productiva de una serie de trastornos en la enunciaci n literaria en primera persona, por un lado, que hacen oscilar el estatuto gen rico del texto entre ficci n y l rica, y la caracterizaci n de este yo l rico-ficcional, por otro lado, dentro de un vasto espectro de psicopatolog as cuyos s ntomas m ltiples refuerzan, a su vez, la inestabilidad enunciativa del texto. Patograf a (Libertella), neurosis del escribir (Masiello), el de/lirio genera en Levrero y Laiseca formas de l rica desviada en las cuales un yo pat tico y pat geno intenta, al (auto)ficcionalizarse, abrirse de nuevo a la relacionalidad. Conectando la escritura del yo hoy en d a casi ubicua con la tradici n prol fica de las malas escrituras rioplatenses, el de/lirio interroga y subvierte nuestra contemporaneidad solipsista.

Hauptseminararbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Deutsch - Literatur, Werke, einseitig bedruckt, Note: 1, Technische Universität Carolo-Wilhelmina zu Braunschweig, Veranstaltung: Thomas Manns Novellen und Erzählungen, 18 Eintragungen im Literaturverzeichnis, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Nach dem Erscheinen der Novelle "Mario und der Zauberer" im Jahr 1930 zeigten Kritiker immer wieder unterschiedliche Interpretationsmöglichkeiten der Novelle auf. Dabei stand und steht die Frage im Vordergrund, ob die Novelle politisch, d.h. unter Einbeziehung des Faschismus, ethisch oder doch einfach nur rein literarisch zu interpretieren ist. Selbst Thomas Mann hat sich nicht eindeutig zu dieser Problematik geäußert. In den ersten erschienenen Rezensionen wurden politische Aspekte allerdings noch nicht berücksichtigt. In der vorliegenden Arbeit geht es nun darum zu überprüfen, ob es sich bei der Novelle "Mario und der Zauberer" um eine politische Novelle handelt, wobei allerdings auch andere Interpretationsansätze mit einbezogen werden.
