NBCCH urges us to cultivate a state of heart that unlocks our Inner Molecules of Medicine and engages our HeartMindBody connection to heal.Using a meditation she calls a Feeling Mantra(R) as the tool, and the heart-touching stories of her students, patients, and recollections from her own journey from chronic illness to health to bring it all to life, Hughes unlocks a door to a place we can all come home to. As Hughes demonstrates, when we learn the skills for unlocking our own dormant resources for healing, our efforts ripple out and touch our families, our community, and the global community.
Our world has its fair share of conflict and communication breakdowns, stress and resentment, heartaches and hopelessness. At the root of all of these things is one common thread: Pain. Where does this pain come from? Unmet needs. When we need water or food we will eventually die if we are not hydrated and fed. When our core emotional needs (connection, control, passion & purpose, and validation) aren't met, we behave in dysfunctional and destructive ways, getting caught up in conflicts, drama, and self-defeating behaviors, leading us to think that life is meant for suffering, not joy. In this groundbreaking and honest book, Dr. Cooper helps teens to discover how to identify, understand, and feed their core emotional needs so they can live more harmoniously with themselves and others. Feed The Need: Teen Edition will positively change the way teens see problems and strengthen and empower them to solve them. "Dr. Bridget Cooper has written an inspired must-have book for today's teens. The concepts and tools provided in Feed the Need: Teen Edition are easily relatable, useable and will help a teenager develop into their best selves as adults. This book is also a vital resource for those who work with and support teens. Thank you, Dr. Cooper " - JoAnn Fitzpatrick, MA, MFT "Feed The Need: Teen Edition is engaging, insightful, and most importantly, influential. The relatable concepts allow teenage girls to analyze and reflect upon their role in (and effect on) their relationships, all while providing a safe haven for truth. All I can say is that I wish I had this book when I was a teenager Stacie Dumond, Director of Membership, Girl Scouts of Connecticut"I was inspired when I read this book (and I don't like to read ). Your needs aren't just something that get shoved away somewhere, never to be seen or heard from again. They need to be addressed. Bridget's book helped me learn what my needs are and how to address them." Casey Middleton, High School Freshman"Dr. Bridget Cooper tells all in her new book Feed the Need: Teen Edition. She touches upon a variety of teen-related issues, slowly feeding the average teen's need. It's a fantastic book that helped me a lot " Matthew Polimeno, High School Sophomore

This is the essential manual for leaders at all levels who want to maximize their human capital by taming the work circus that comes from - and feeds - stress, drama, and isolation. It's tough out there. When we aren't at the office, we're still glued to our mobile devices, ready to pounce on the next email, update, text, or phone call. We are feeling burned out, exhausted, and unappreciated. Work has become a circus, with the vast majority of people feeling overwhelmed, distrusting, and disconnected which has a direct effect on the bottom line. Some have given up hope that it'll ever be different, pacing behind bars, failing to recognize that they are holding the key. Instead of being in charge of our destiny, we are taking a backseat and watching as "the world" takes over. This is devastating news for executives trying to reap the most from their human capital.Wake up and smell the manure, people The circus you're in can be tamed, but you've got to take hold of your chair (and sometimes your whip) to master your part then move on to the rest of the big top. This book gets you to do just that. It tackles empowerment and engagement so they aren't just buzzwords in your human resource plan.
Before she was a passionate and accomplished consultant, speaker, coach, and author, Dr. Bridget Cooper straddled the razor's edge between wanting to die and struggling to live. This is her story. This, however, is not your typical memoir. Not only is it an extraordinary story full of horror and hope, but it compels you to take inventory of your own little landslides - the events and circumstances that have reshaped your footing, created a new landscape, and challenged you to stay upright. She offers a proven path out of the darkness.LITTLE LANDSLIDES is: A true tale of domestic violence as told through the eyes of a child. A story about sexual assault as spoken through the voice of an innocent. A commentary on mental illness written by a girl who almost died escaping its grasp. A narrative of addiction's stranglehold on the human condition. The world seems so dark at times, so hopeless. Life offers beauty...and misery. When we hold tight to the latter, it deepens and multiplies, spreading like wildfire, creating the foundation for all human suffering. The stories we tell ourselves about what's happened to us creates our reality. If we change our stories and how we understand them, we change our lives. The author went deep into darkness and emerged into light and she dares you to do the same, equipped with all the lessons she learned the hard way.It turns out that this book offers a little landslide of its very own.

June 1849: Dr William Wilde, passing a wretched hovel in Dublin’s Liberties, discovers James Clarence Mangan in a state of indescribable misery and squalor. Aged just 46, the man dubbed ‘Ireland’s National Poet’ is about to succumb to the cholera epidemic that is gripping famine ravaged Ireland. August 2008: Writer Bridget Hourican encounters Mangan during a Liberties lock-in with that other great Irish poet, Shane MacGowan, who found inspiration in Mangan’s poetry. Alcoholic, opium addict, Romantic, Famine poet, Dublin street character and hero of James Joyce, the mercurial Mangan begins to obsess Bridget. The surviving biographical material - scant, subjective, sometimes falsified - both fascinates and frustrates her and she determines to find him. Who was this Baudelaire of The Liberties – this lurker in Irish history whose enigmatic presence helped determine its course? As the lines between research and real life become blurred, Bridget starts to notice aspects of her life bleeding into Mangan’s. An obsession becomes a haunting and she realises that the only way to truly reach Mangan is to reckon with her own ghosts. Finding Mangan resurrects Ireland’s most enigmatic literary figuring, restoring his rightful place in the national consciousness. ‘Imaginative and absorbing, at last Mangan has found the perfect biographer.’ John Banville ‘A new, shapeshifting approach to biography . . . It reads like a dream.’ Roy Foster ‘I adored the writing. Its fizzing energy. Its spinning clarity. Its openhearted rigour.’ Alan McMonagle
All in the mix: Race, class and school choice considers how parents choose secondary schools for their children and makes an important intervention into debates on school choice and education. The book examines how parents talk about race, religion and class in the process of choosing. It also explores how parents’ own racialised and classed positions, as well as their experience of education, can shape the way they approach choosing schools. Based on in-depth interviews with parents from different class and racialised backgrounds in three areas in and around Manchester, the book shows how discussions about school choice are shaped by the places in which the choices are made. It argues that careful consideration of choosing schools opens up a moment to explore the ways in which people imagine themselves, their children and others in social, relational space. An electronic edition of this book is freely available under a Creative Commons (CC BY-NC-ND) licence.

Profane & Sacred examines religious discourse in contemporary Latino/a fiction, exploring how religion creates, mediates or changes Latino culture and identity. Much contemporary literary criticism on Latino/a literature has focused on the bilingual and bicultural nature of Latino identity, history and cultural production. But just as the multiplicity of cultures and languages has shaped Latino identity and history, so too has religion. Studying the religious discourse found in fiction can clearly enrich not only our perception of the diversity within the Hispanic communities, but also the diversity between sociologists and creative writers.
