Young people constitute one of the precious resources of any country. India homes about 24.3 crores adolescents and occupies 21% of Indian population. It means about one fifth of India's population belongs to the adolescent age group of 10 -19 years. According to UNICEF, there are more adolescents in India than in any country . As they form an important segment, there is call for focused attention with regard to health and social well-being. With the growing realization that investing in adolescents yield more intellectual and economicdividends for the country, recently Government of India has launched its first comprehensive programme for adolescents . The program envisages an idea of enabling the adolescents to be made informed and responsible in their decisions related to their health and well-being. Similarly a global reflection also observed in acknowledging and prioritizing the contributions of this group. For the first time, adolescents were added to the core of United Nation's Global Strategy for the period of 2016-2030. This report illustrates not only the unique health challenges faced by young people, but also their critical role as key drivers of change in the post -2015 era. This UN project is put forward with a vision to improve health and well-being of adolescents along with women and children and to pass a transformative variation needed to mold a bright and stable future.
Multispectral Image Analysis Using the Object-Oriented Paradigm
Bringing a fresh new perspective to remote sensing, object-based image analysis is a paradigm shift from the traditional pixel-based approach. Featuring various practical examples to provide understanding of this new modus operandi, Multispectral Image Analysis Using the Object-Oriented Paradigm reviews the current image analysis methods and demonstrates advantages to improve information extraction from imagery. This reference describes traditional image analysis techniques, introduces object-oriented technology, and discusses the benefits of object-based versus pixel-based classification. It examines the creation of object primitives using image segmentation approaches and the use of various techniques for object classification. The author covers image enhancement methods, how to use ancillary data to constrain image segmentation, and concepts of semantic grouping of objects. He concludes by addressing accuracy assessment approaches. The accompanying downloadable resources present sample data that enable the use of different approaches to problem solving. Integrating remote sensing techniques and GIS analysis, Multispectral Image Analysis Using the Object-Oriented Paradigm distills new tools to extract information from remotely sensed data.

Boiler professionals require a strong command of both the theoretical and practical facets of water tube-boiler technology. From state-of-the-art boiler construction to mechanics of firing techniques, Boilers for Power and Process augments seasoned engineers’ already-solid grasp of boiler fundamentals. A practical explanation of theory, it delivers a balanced analysis of the conceptual and functional aspects of boiler design and evolution. Project managers, consultants, and graduate students will also benefit from this handy desk book, which:- Describes boiler theory - Elaborates on the parts and sub-assemblies of the boiler and its essential auxiliaries - Explains firing systems, including FBC and HRSG Insights from a Professional with Decades of Experience Take advantage of the author’s rare techno-commercial perspective and decades of hands-on international experience with industrial and utility boiler systems. Boilers for Power and Process builds on fundamentals – heat transfer, fluid flow, combustion, and fuels – using hundreds of illustrations and tables, a glossary of key terms, and appendices outlining essential calculations required for common processes. Ruthless Optimization Leads to Evolution Examining the latest breakthroughs in boiler technology, this reference details the evolution and what the author calls “ruthless” optimization of firing systems and boilers in the last 150 years. It explains why only the most fuel-flexible, dynamically responsive, best-constructed boilers are used today. This company-neutral text discusses competing designs and why different systems are particularly useful and cost-effective for certain business sectors and global regions. Succinct and easy to navigate, this text illustrates the practical business value and applications of different boilers, distilling the essential information, creating a must-have reference for an intimate understanding of boiler technology.
Soft Computing Approach to Pattern Classification and Object Recognition
Soft Computing Approach to Pattern Classification and Object Recognition establishes an innovative, unified approach to supervised pattern classification and model-based occluded object recognition. The book also surveys various soft computing tools, fuzzy relational calculus (FRC), genetic algorithm (GA) and multilayer perceptron (MLP) to provide a strong foundation for the reader. The supervised approach to pattern classification and model-based approach to occluded object recognition are treated in one framework , one based on either a conventional interpretation or a new interpretation of multidimensional fuzzy implication (MFI) and a novel notion of fuzzy pattern vector (FPV). By combining practice and theory, a completely independent design methodology was developed in conjunction with this supervised approach on a unified framework, and then tested thoroughly against both synthetic and real-life data. In the field of soft computing, such an application-oriented design study is unique in nature. The monograph essentially mimics the cognitive process of human decision making, and carries a message of perceptual integrity in representational diversity. Soft Computing Approach to Pattern Classification and Object Recognition is intended for researchers in the area of pattern classification and computer vision. Other academics and practitioners will also find the book valuable.

Immuno Systems Biology aims to study the immune system in the more integrated manner on how cells and molecules participate at different system levels to the immune function. Through this book Kumar Selvarajoo introduces to physicists, chemists, computer scientists, biologists and immunologists the idea of an integrated approach to the understanding of mammalian immune system. Geared towards a researcher with limited immunological and computational analytical experience, the book provides a broad overview to the subject and some instruction in basic computational, theoretical and experimental approaches. The book links complex immunological processes with computational analysis and emphasizes the importance of immunology to the mammalian system.

Following the publication of the author’s first book, Boilers for Power and Process by CRC Press in 2009, several requests were made for a reference with even quicker access to information. Boilers: A Practical Reference is the result of those requests, providing a user-friendly encyclopedic format with more than 500 entries and nearly the same number of supporting illustrations.Written for practicing engineers and dealing with practical issues rather than theory, this reference focuses exclusively on water tube boilers found in process industries and power plants. It provides broad explanations for the following topics: A range of boilers and main auxiliaries, as well as steam and gas turbinesTraditional firing techniques—grates, oil/gas, and modern systemsIndustrial, utility, waste heat, MSW and bio-fuel-fired boilers, including supercritical boilersThe scientific fundamentals of combustion, heat transfer, fluid flow, and moreThe basics of fuels, water, ash, high-temperature steels, structurals, refractory, insulation, and moreAdditional engineering topics like boiler instruments, controls, welding, corrosion, and wearAir pollution, its abatement techniques and their effect on the design of boilers and auxiliariesEmerging technologies such as carbon capture, oxy-fuel combustion, and PFBCThis reference covers almost every topic needed by boiler engineers in process and power plants. An encyclopedia by design and a professional reference book by focus and size, this volume is strong on fundamentals and design aspects as well as practical content. The scope and easy-to-navigate presentation of the material plus the numerous illustrations make this a unique reference for busy design, project, operation, and consulting engineers.
