The Ramblings Begin... Book 2

More poetry from a bipolar mind. Since my first book, I've made many discoveries including the fact that there are many out there who appreciate knowing they are not alone. I write these words, partially for that reason, but also to try and spread some understanding. My new goal... nay, my mission/purpose is to bridge the understanding gap between those who suffer from mental illness and those who suffer watching. I know, from personal experience, how hard it is for loved ones to try and grasp what we go through. How hard they struggle to find the right words to 'help'. I've seen people who care begin to feel so helpless that they feel the only option they have is to give up. I hope to find a way to solve that problem so people stop losing each other over an illness. Please keep loving each other, strive to never give up, and above all else, recover loudly You never know who benefit from your story.Thank you for your consideration. The Bipolar Punkrock Redneck Hippie
The World Made Otherwise

The World Made Otherwise

Many natural scientists believe climate change will bring civilizational collapse. Tim Gorringe argues that behind this threat is a commitment to false values, embodied in our political, economic, and farming systems. At the same time, millions of people the world over--perhaps the majority--are committed to alternative values and practices. This book explores how these values, already foreshadowed in people's movements all over the world, can produce different political and economic realities which can underwrite a safe and prosperous future for all. ""Over the last several decades, Timothy Gorringe has established himself as an indispensable theological guide in matters relating to culture and the built and natural environments. In The World Made Otherwise, he shows how theological insights can help us address what is likely the most pressing, planetary issue of our time--creating societies, economies, and infrastructures that will be livable and just and, dare we hope, even beautiful."" --Norman Wirzba, Duke Divinity School ""In this deeply researched and finely crafted volume Tim Gorringe presents the ecological crisis above all as a moral crisis. Gorringe develops an insightful ecological reading of the modern revival of virtue ethics, and an investigation of its implications for the core practices of human life--including building, economics, food growing and politics . . . This is interdisciplinary moral theology of a high order, reflecting the prophetic insight and wisdom of one of Britain's finest theologians who is also a vegetable gardener, beekeeper, and shepherd."" --Michael Northcott, University of Heidelberg, Seminar of Practical Theology Timothy J. Gorringe is Emeritus Professor of Theology at the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. He is the author of many books including Karl Barth: Against Hegemony (1999), A Theology of the Built Environment (2004), and The Common Good and the Global Emergency (2011).

Beyond Borders: A History of Mexican Migration to the United States details the origins and evolution of the movement of people from Mexico into the United States from the first significant flow across the border at the turn of the 20th century up to the present day. Considers the issues from the perspectives of both the United States and Mexico. Offers a reasoned assessment of the factors that drive Mexican immigration, explains why so many of the policies enacted in Washington have only worsened the problem, and suggests what policy options might prove more effective. Argues that the problem of Mexican immigration can only be solved if Mexico and the United States work together to reduce the disequilibrium that propels Mexican immigrants to the United States.

The Moral Vision of Proverbs

The Moral Vision of Proverbs

Timothy J. Sandoval

Wisdom literature is an unfamiliar genre to modern readers and presents many interpretive challenges. In this major new work, respected wisdom scholar Timothy Sandoval argues that the book of Proverbs, though difficult to access for some, provides a coherent moral vision for human flourishing. The approach Sandoval argues for in The Moral Vision of Proverbs is that of virtue ethics, or character ethics, particularly that which emerges from the classical tradition of Aristotle (as opposed to reading the book, intentionally or unintentionally, through the lenses of modern ethical systems). Sandoval engages with specialists in this ethical tradition as well as biblical scholars to make his case that Proverbs is an ancient, virtue-oriented moral discourse. This comprehensive critical study of Proverbs analyzes the book's major topics and strives to discern the moral and philosophical presuppositions and logic of its rhetoric, all the while engaging past and present interpretive approaches. Although authored by a Christian scholar, this text will be of great interest to a broadly ecumenical audience, whether students of the Old Testament/Tanakh/Hebrew Bible, biblical scholars, or Christian ethicists and moral theologians.
